This role supports the pathology department through a variety of administrative, clerical, and quality control tasks. Core duties include transcribing pathology reports, ensuring report accuracy, handling billing verification in EPIC, and managing lab logistics like specimen tracking, supply oversight, and shipping. The position also coordinates Quality Control reviews, assists with onboarding staff, communicates with physicians and pathologists, and supports lab performance reporting. Additional duties involve managing pre-authorization processes, organizing specialty case conferences, and executing tasks as assigned by leadership.

Schedule: May work between 28 - 40 hours/week. 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Position is on site at our Pathology Lab location.

The successful candidate will have scribe or transcription experience, have a strong understanding of medical lab terminology, medical billing experience, and EPIC EHR experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Good knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Ability to perform accurate keyboarding skills at a minimum of 50 - 60 wpm.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Medical transcription / reporting experience required.
• Minimum two years of experience in a Clinical or Anatomic Pathology Lab strongly preferred.
• Associate's degree or higher in biology or related field preferred.
• Pathology transcription experience preferred.
• Billing / Coding experience preferred.
• EPIC Beaker experience preferred.
• Basic Microsoft computer applications experience required.

Pay Range:
$22.98 - $32.17

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

License Requirement:

1. License to practice as a Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, Histotechnologist, or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or

2. Eligibility for licensure as a Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, Histotechnologist, or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York.

Education and Experience:

This is a part-time, benefit eligible position, 0.6FTE (48hours/2 week pay period), with 8-hour shifts scheduled Monday, Thursday, Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. No weekends or holidays required.

The Pathology Reporting Specialist (PRS) performs a variety of tasks in assistance to pathologists and other allied healthcare providers. Is accountable for ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documents, tests ordered, billing entry, and billing audits. Tasks include data input and control of consult cases, research requests, administrative documents, and anatomic pathology quality assurance program material. Responsibilities also include coordinating patient case correspondence/materials, ordering tests and stains for cases, answering telephones, and providing related follow-up and resolution, participation in process improvement which includes data collection, and coordinating case conference materials. The PRS must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional with ability to work independently as well as in a team. The PRS has excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service skills. Possess a strong knowledge of pathology ordering, resulting, and billing practices. The PRS collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote patient and provider experience. The PRS works independently under general supervision.

The Digital Pathology Technician - AI/ML Support is a key technical role supporting our mission to advance cancer diagnostics through innovative digital pathology solutions. This role combines expertise in digital imaging, histological slide handling and close collaboration across laboratory, engineering, and data science teams.

In this role, you will help ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of scanned slides used in digital workflows and data-driven applications. You'll support continuous improvement in slide preparation, scanning, and artifact handling processes, helping enable scalable, high-quality datasets.

This position reports to the Manager, SW Developer and is based on-site.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Procure, order, organize, and track tissue blocks and histology slides to support digital scanning workflows.
• Prepare and load slides for whole slide imaging, ensuring high-quality scans through proper calibration and scanner maintenance.
• Perform quality control (QC) on scanned slides, identifying and annotating scan-related or histological artifacts according to defined protocols.
• Collaborate with pathologists and lab staff to define, refine, and continuously improve artifact classification and annotation workflows.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning (ML) and Data Science, to align on image quality standards, annotation guidelines, and model training requirements.
• Contribute to best practices for digital pathology operations and cross-functional workflows between lab and data science teams.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Hands-on experience with digital slide scanners (e.g., Leica, Hamamatsu, Aperio), including basic imaging calibration and maintenance.
• Experience working with digital pathology or lab information systems (LIS/LIMS).
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow and optimize standardized protocols.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.

It would be a plus if you also possess:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience working in a histology or pathology laboratory.
• Knowledge of histological processes including sectioning, staining, and slide preparation.
