Position Summary:
Registration clerks are responsible for obtaining patient demographic, insurance and financial information including but not limited to performing scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception, and discharge functions.
Registration clerks also must employ proper, compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during and after the date of service. Escorting of patients/visitors to appropriate areas, or obtaining, wheelchair, etc. Arranges for patients to speak with financial counselors if needed. Registration clerks also ensure medical necessity checks/verification which may be in the form of authorization requests or advance beneficiary notification forms.
Insurance authorization/notifications may or may not result from an automated tool which can include inpatient, or outpatient scheduled or unscheduled hospital charges.
Education, License & Cert:
- Associate degree in health care, Finance or related area. In lieu of degree, two (2) years' experience is required in Front Office Assistant, Registration, Insurance Verification, Scheduling/Call Center, or Banking.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology required, with a medical terminology course completion.
- Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Must possess an abiding commitment to basic ethical and legal principles, including familiarity with HIPAA and Protected Health Information
- Excellent communication skills
- Must have proven clerical skills, including typing, filing, scanning, with the ability to communicate with the public, doctors, nurses, and patients

Job Description
We are currently seeking dedicated Patient Registration professionals to join our team in multiple areas of care. The Patient Registration role is essential for ensuring smooth patient flow and excellent customer service across various medical settings. This position offers competitive pay based on experience and provides opportunities to contribute in fast-paced and rewarding healthcare environments.
Available Shifts (3 Openings)
Shift 1: Emergency Room (ER)
+ Sunday, Monday, Tuesday | 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
+ Wednesday | 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Shift 2: Surgery Center (Outpatient)
+ Monday - Friday | 4:15 AM - 12:45 PM (No weekends)
+ OR Monday - Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (No weekends)
Shift 3: Cath Lab/Heart Surgery Area (Outpatient)
+ Monday - Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (No weekends)
+ OR Monday - Friday | 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (No weekends)
Pay Rate
+ $18/hour for 1-2 years of relevant experience
+ $20/hour for 3+ years of relevant experience
Responsibilities
+ Greet and register patients accurately and efficiently
+ Manage patient scheduling and appointment coordination
+ Support clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed
+ Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
+ Deliver excellent customer service to patients and families
+ Maintain accurate records and filing systems
Requirements
Job Requirements
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent
+ Minimum of 2-3 years of consistent Patient Registration or Medical Support experience

Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Registration Specialist to join our Emergency Department team in Tarzana, California. In this contract position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring patients are registered efficiently and accurately during critical moments. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The position is from 2 pm - 10:30 pm Monday - Friday and rotating weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and their families to the Emergency Department with professionalism and empathy.
- Collect and validate patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy.
- Obtain and securely scan necessary documents, including identification and insurance cards.
- Explain financial responsibilities such as co-payments and assist patients with payment collection.
- Accurately input patient data into the electronic health record system.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and minimize delays.
- Address patient and visitor inquiries with a calm and supportive demeanor.
- Adhere to hospital policies and maintain compliance with organizational standards.
- Perform additional administrative tasks as required to support the department.
Requirements - High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework is a plus.
- Previous experience in healthcare registration, admissions, or patient access is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in multitasking and data entry with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health record systems is preferred.
- Availability to work alternating weekends.
