Job Description
Location: New York, Manhattan - Hybrid/Remote
Salary range: $100,000 - $30,000 + share options
Reporting to: VP of Customer Success
About UsDuel is a SaaS company on a mission to make Brand Advocacy the industry standard philosophy for building brilliant retail brands. It was founded by world record-breaking adventurer and former brand ambassador Paul Archer, alongside viral games developer Naio Tsarouchis.
We exist to show that companies built for advocacy can change the world. We believe there’s a better way to build businesses, and we seek to prove that caring for people over short-term sales builds Brand, which in turn yields long-term and exponential profit returns thanks to the advocacy it drives.
The Duel Brand Advocacy Solution allows enterprise brands to do just that, scaling how they manage their relationships with thousands of advocates, customers, creators and brand ambassadors. We’re proud today that 60 brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Charlotte Tilbury, Spanx, Victoria’s Secret, LUSH and Elemis (to name a few, but not to name some household names that we can’t talk about… yet) are doing just that. The Duel team comprises psychologists, brand experts and community builders, combining cutting-edge brand expertise with seasoned SaaS experience.
The RoleAs Brand Strategy Director , you’ll be on the cutting edge of creating and defining an entirely new category. You will be the lead architect behind the most forward-thinking advocacy strategies in the industry, translating brand goals into measurable growth through referrals, retention, and revenue. This is a role for someone who thinks like a strategist and executes with the same amount of thought. Someone who can see our brand’s big picture while building frameworks & workshops that scale across every touchpoint.
You’ll partner with iconic global brands to turn their customers into advocates, and community leaders. This means building strategic frameworks that align brand ambition with platform power and doing it in a way that scales. Whether it’s unlocking new referral channels, fuelling UGC, or driving loyalty, your work will directly impact customer retention, revenue, and long-term brand love.
You’ll also be instrumental in shaping Duel’s strategic maturity. From building internal playbooks and vertical-specific templates, to co-creating thought leadership and training our team, you’ll help set the gold standard for what best-in-class advocacy looks like.
This is not a back-seat strategy role. It’s a front-line, high-impact position where you’ll be leading conversations, shaping programs, and influencing product direction, all while helping the most forward-thinking brands in the world turn customers into growth.
At Duel, we don’t just build, we’re building a category to be recognised as the philosophy for building brilliant retail brands. Whether it’s a relationship, a piece of content, an idea, or a framework, we create with purpose to maximise impact.
We’re looking for someone who will…Design and drive industry-defining brand advocacy strategies for our clients, translating bold brand ambitions into scalable programs that fuel organic growth through referrals, retention, and revenue.
Bridge brand strategy to execution, ensuring that every plan you design not only inspires, but also delivers, activating real advocates and measurable outcomes.
Create insight-led playbooks that turn raw ambition into repeatable frameworks, scalable tools our brands (and Duel) can rely on to activate communities and drive loyalty at scale.
Hold our brand partners to account. They fail to deliver on their commitments or revert to prior behaviours that don't align with a brand advocacy philosophy.
Elevate client conversations from tactical to transformational, bringing clarity to what “great” advocacy looks like and setting a new benchmark for success in this emerging category.
Co-create thought leadership with brands, launching flagship case studies or insight pieces, to showcase the strategic impact and position Duel as the category leader.
Build a strategic framework that becomes the standard playbook of our active enterprise brand accounts and embedded into our platform experience.
Strategically embedded into Duel’s GTM team, identifying strategic gaps, and uncovering growth levers across the customer lifecycle.
Develop and present custom brand advocacy strategies for at least two priority brand partners, establishing both internal alignment and customer buy-in.
Work closely with Product Marketing to build internal enablement tools & strategy hubs for GTM teams, including playbooks, maturity models, workshops, and templates that scale brand thinking across the business.
You live and breathe brands. You obsess over the latest campaigns, the hottest names on the street, and feel strongly about sh*t marketing.
Bring deep expertise in brand, influencer, and community strategy, ideally forged in the fires of a fast-paced agency or iconic brands, and apply it to help our customersf build iconic advocacy programs.
Combine a strong grasp of customer journey mapping, segmentation, and advocacy mechanics (UGC, referrals, loyalty) to design programs that move the needle on real business outcomes.
Translate strategic thinking into compelling narratives that resonate with stakeholders across marketing, product, and the C-suite.
Confidently connect data to commercial impact, identifying how brand advocacy influences retention, referrals, and revenue at every step.
You have led brand workshops, aligning diverse teams, and holding the room with clarity and conviction.
Strong foundation in digital and social strategy, with hands-on experience across account management, strategy, and brand development.
You approach strategy comprehensively, brand goals, audience insights, cultural trends, platform-specific tactics.
Ability to translate macro insights into micro activations, particularly relevant in community-led and influencer marketing.
Advocated for evolving beyond traditional influencer models into micro-creator & community activation and UGC-driven strategies.
You understand the difference between surface-level influence and deep authenticity & trust-driven engagement, which aligns perfectly with Duel’s vision.
We want to build a remarkable company with remarkable people and a remarkable culture that you will want to shout from the rooftops about. Advocacy is our north star, both for our customers and our employees.
A High Trust, Tight Ship, full of Utterly Lovely & Bloody Brilliant People doing their Best Work Together
We value trust and freedom above all else. Yet this must be combined with deep ownership, execution, and clear, candid communication. If this is not how you are at Duel, or you break that trust, you will not be around for long.
Dueligans combined are the largest shareholders in Duel. We take that concept of ownership seriously.
We do much of our best work as a team together in the office, which is why we are only hiring people within a commutable distance of our London or New York offices. However, we also know that we do our best work alone at home, and we all need to be able to balance work with life, childcare commitments, and other responsibilities. The office philosophy is hybrid, where you're encouraged to be in the office a few days a week, namely when your team will be there.
However, the name of the game with everything we do is freedom and flexibility. So you do, as long as it's not at the expense of others.
Duel Perks and PackageWe have a growing benefits package, including;
Flexible working hours - if you need to fit around childcare or life, we understand.
