We are a well-established environmental laboratory with over 35 years of experience in drinking water and radon testing. Serving clients across the Northeast from our main lab in Woodbridge, we’re seeking a dynamic Lab Director to lead our chemistry operations and support our continued growth.


Position Summary

We are seeking a full-time Lab Director to oversee the daily operations of our chemistry laboratory, with a primary focus on analytical instrumentation. This leadership role requires hands-on expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex laboratory instruments, along with the ability to manage staff and uphold quality systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education :

MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry is required.

Additional background in Radiochemistry and Microbiology is a plus.

Experience:

Candidates must have at least 5 years of post-graduate experience specializing in analytical instrumentation, specifically within a non-research laboratory setting.

Instrumentation :

Some Proficiency in operating and maintaining ICP-OES, ICP-MS, ICs, GC-MS, and LSCs.

Other Requirements :

Proven experience in SOP development, staff oversight, and lab operations

Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and troubleshoot complex instruments, including: ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatographs (ICs), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Liquid Scintillation Counters (LSCs).
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Supervise, support, and mentor a team of scientists.
  • Develop, update, and enforce SOPs in accordance with NELAC and EPA standards.
  • Manage and maintain QA/QC protocols.
  • Train staff in laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and safety standards.
  • Ensure lab compliance with regulatory requirements and audits.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align operational goals with company strategy.

Responsibilities


Analytical:


  • Update and optimize methods for HPLC/MS analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
  • Perform routine and advanced analyses using HPLC-MS, NMR, GC-MS, and other analytical instruments as required.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical equipment to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.

Production:

  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas while ensuring all documentation and logbooks are accurately completed and up-to-date.


Research and Development:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments (wet chemistry) to support process chemists in method development and process optimization.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and laboratory notebooks.


Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree (required) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field. Preferred Masters or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field.


Skills: Proficiency in using analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC-MS, GC-MS, NMR, UV-Vis, FTIR, etc.). Strong communication, time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.


Experience: 3–7 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in a regulated industry. Experience managing multiple projects and ensuring timely delivery of results.


Compliance: Familiarity with industry-standard EHS protocols and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO, GMP).

**Position: Analytical Research & Development Scientist**
Play a pivotal role in developing innovative analytical methods and optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring world-class quality and supporting regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Develop, implement, and validate robust analytical methods for manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory submissions
+ Drive innovation in analytical methodologies and manage seamless technology transfers across global facilities
+ Plan and execute research proposals, identifying project goals, resource needs, and practical applications
+ Conduct analytical testing on drug substances, intermediates, and raw materials for clinical and registration purposes
+ Ensure meticulous documentation and compliance with ICH and internal stability guidelines
+ Troubleshoot and resolve analytical challenges in manufacturing environments
+ Support stability programs and uphold QEH&S principles
+ Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to environmental and safety standards
+ Adapt to flexible working hours to support production and validation demands
**Qualifications**
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in the pharmaceutical sector
+ Strong analytical chemistry expertise with proven proficiency in method development and GMP compliance
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at every level
+ Advanced skills in mathematical analysis and statistical concepts
+ Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required

1. Responsible for conduct and streamlining of sample preparation for liquid chromatography
