The Medication Dispensing Technician is responsible for ensuring that the Medication room runs efficiently and stays organized and operative. Some of the duties include managing inventory, answering the phone, checking patient information for insurance co-pays, restocking and ordering necessary supplies, assisting with delivery of prepackaged medication(s), keeping dispensing records, ongoing filing systems and performing other administrative tasks. Additionally, under the direct supervision of the dispensing provider, the Medication Dispensing Technician accurately processes prescriptions, product quality assurance, labeling and completes prescriptions assembling for dispensing physician final verification prior to deliver medication to appropriate patients. He/she also works with that dispensing provider to ensure that the medication has been delivered properly and in a timely manner.
**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Receiving and efficiently processing patient prescriptions, assisting in preparing and delivering medications under direct supervision of dispensing provider in accordance with prescription and within Federal and State Regulations.
+ Partner with center staff to ensure medication adherence.
+ Answer and manage incoming patient and pharmacy calls.
+ Prepares medications for provider, dispensing the medication in accordance with prescription.
+ Processes refills for chronic conditions preapproved by dispensing physician daily.
+ Orders pharmaceuticals and receive/stock drugs.
+ Completes pharmacy reports, not limited to inventory reports and expired medications
+ Collects patient information for prescription and billing.
+ Keeps filing system updated for multiple procedures/processes.
+ Assists with pharmacy claims adjudication including calling insurances to assess and correct pharmacy claims rejections if appropriate.
+ Other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

* Safely transport narcotic medication in a manner consistent with DEA, State, and Federal, rules and regulations, while abiding by ARTS policies and procedures to include but not limited to using a lock box. Delivery locations will include as correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, inpatient treatment facilities, or any location deemed appropriate by ARTS.
* Assess patients' needs for physical exams, and report observations to physicians and/or counselors.
* Monitor each patient's vital signs and health condition.
* Blood Drawing for labs and/or obtaining test results.
* Administer TB tests.
* Assess adverse reaction to medications, and issues relating to drug overdose, HIV, and/or HCV.
* Handle infectious materials, human blood or other body fluids according to applicable policy and procedures.

Work Location:

Onsite - The position will be assigned a home clinic and will need to, from time to time, assist in dispensing activities among three ARTS Opioid Treatment Programs, currently located in Aurora, Arvada, and Denver.
