Integrated Wound Care is seeking a Part Time Medical Doctor to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a leading provider of wound care services, Integrated Wound Care aims to offer quality care to skilled nursing, long-term care, and rehabilitation facilities. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our team and will work with other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal wound care to our patients. The Part Time Medical Doctor will perform a variety of duties, including conducting patient assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing wound care management for patients. Work hours are tailored to your schedule rounding during morning hours in the facility with no call, no weekends, and no hospital rounding responsibilities.
- Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for each patient based on their specific wound care needs.
- Provide wound care management for patients.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and therapists, to provide optimal wound care to patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records to ensure coordination of care and effective communication with other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management and prevention strategies.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to ensure up-to-date knowledge of wound care best practices.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of healthcare delivery.
Requirements
- Active medical doctor license.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in wound care management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide individualized care to patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other healthcare professionals and educate patients and their families.
- Ability to maintain effective records and documentation of patient care.

Position Description
Under general administrative direction, provides strategic clinical oversight and supervision for psychiatric nurse practitioners (PHNPs) within the Behavioral Health and Wellness Division. Leads the integration of comprehensive, community-based mental health services that are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and aligned with public health priorities. Ensures adherence to all applicable Tennessee laws, collaborative practice requirements, and regulatory standards while advancing evidence-based prescribing and care practices. Serves as a clinical thought partner in the design, evaluation, and enhancement of behavioral health programs, and supports interdisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes for diverse and underserved populations. Champions equity-driven approaches and population-level mental wellness strategies. Supports the mission, vision, and core values of the Metro Public Health Department of Nashville and Davidson County.
Typical Duties
Provides medical supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners as part of a collaborative practice agreement.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative agreements with advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) in accordance with TCA § 63-7-123 and Board of Medical Examiners rules.
- Conducts monthly site visits and =20% chart reviews.
- Documents prescribing oversight for compliance with state guidelines.
- Consults on complex or high-risk patient cases and provides guidance on prescribing controlled substances.
- Ensures all collaborative practice functions are in compliance with DEA regulations and HIPAA standards.
- Accessible for consultation by phone or in person during clinic hours of the nurse practitioner.
- Ensures compliance with controlled substance prescribing rules.
- Participates in multidisciplinary case conferences, quality improvement efforts, and public health initiatives.
- Provides technical consultation and guidance to nurse practitioners and clinical staff.
- Collaborates with division leaders to ensure integrated behavioral health and medical services.
- Attends staff meetings, interagency forums, and strategic planning sessions as required.
- Reviews service protocols, documentation practices, and clinical workflows.
- Provides mentorship and clinical education to advanced practice providers.
- Contributes to in-service training, continuing education, and policy development.
- Collaborates with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders on behavioral health topics.
- Promotes culturally competent, trauma-informed, and equity-centered care practices.
This classification supervises advanced practice providers in a collaborative capacity.
This classification reports to the Chief Medical Officer of the Metro Public Health Department of Nashville and Davidson County.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work environment involves moderate risk, typical of clinical and office settings.
Employees may be exposed to emotional client situations and required to wear protective gear, such as masks or gloves, in patient-facing settings.
The role may require light physical activity such as walking, bending, standing for extended periods, or occasional lifting of supplies or equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine with an M.D. or D.O. degree.
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry. - At least 2 years of experience supervising or collaborating with advanced practice providers is preferred.
- Experience with prescribing psychotropic medications, including anti-psychotics.
- Familiarity with behavioral health or community mental health services is strongly desired.
- Physicians who are not board-certified but are eligible for Tennessee licensure and collaboration agreements may be considered. Permanent status may be granted upon full licensure and eligibility completion.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Knowledge of medical principles, clinical diagnostics, and therapeutic practices.
- Possess expertise in the same area as the NP-this includes mental/behavioral health for PMHNPs
- Ensures physician consultation before NP initially prescribes Schedules II - IV.
- Knowledge of state laws governing collaborative practice and advanced practice nursing.
- Familiarity with public health systems, behavioral health frameworks, and community-based care.
- Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers.
- Communicate effectively and establish cooperative working relationships.
- Participate in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and service improvement.
- Co-creates/maintains clinical protocols
- Review/update protocols as per MPHD's policies and procedures.
- Work is characterized by advanced professional judgment and regulatory accountability.
