THIS IS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR 1099 POSITION
The **Physician** shall perform medical histories, physical examinations, as well as review of required medical tests and documents pertaining to consultations and medical histories.
**Responsibilities**
+ Conduct medical histories and physical examinations.
+ Review of required medical tests and documents pertaining to consultations and medical histories
+ Secure a thorough health history from the applicant and record findings.
+ Assess applicant medical documentation and rendering their medical opinion on an applicant's medical fitness for programs applying for
+ Apply accession medical standards to determine applicant medical qualifications.
+ Become proficient in the application of accession medical standards to determine suitability of applicants for military service.
+ Provide highest regard to applicant dignity.
+ Abide by and follow IAW, Privacy Act and HIPPA
+ Participate in MEPS local, medical peer reviews.
+ Use Philosophy Known as "Red Carpet Treatment"
+ Comply with all installation policies and procedures.
+ Access and update electronic medical documentation,
+ Access and respond to e-mail communications and use internet sites as required to obtain information on medical issues.
+ Effectively communicate with all parties and other providers
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
+ Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from a medical school that is Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) accredited.
+ Completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency or have provided direct patient care as an independent practitioner within the last three (3) years.
+ Graduates of a foreign medical school are required to possess both a Medical License and Certification by the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
+ Possess a current unrestricted license from any one of the 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands
+ Minimum of one (1) year experience, post-graduate training
+ Possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA). BLS must include Hands-On skills session.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Possess computer skills necessary to access and update electronic medical documentation, access and respond to e-mail communications, and use internet sites as required to obtain information on medical issues. This includes keyboard data entry of all medical record entries, consults and applicant medical processing
+ Ability to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate with all parties and other providers
+ Ability to effectively plan and utilize time while administering judgement and demonstrating sound decision-making skills
+ Possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity
+ Ability to complete Genesis training requirements for medical documentation
+ Experience in collecting, organizing, recording and communicating, while taking health histories and administering mental health screening questionnaires
+ Knowledgeable of diagnostic procedures related to a variety of medical and health care fields to include obstetrics and gynecology, otolaryngology, pediatric, orthopedic, internal medicine and mental health

May serve as an in-house courier which may include retrieving blood, hand delivering labs, tele boxes, etc. Organizes the workflow, problem-solves basic and routine matters, and manages multiple ongoing priorities, seeking guidance and assistance from preceptor, licensed nurse, or management.
+ Contributes towards improving department scores for patient satisfaction through peer-to-peer accountability, i.e., bedside shift handoff/report.
**QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Reports observations, conditions and problems of patients to licensed personnel to achieve desired patient outcomes. Provides for the privacy of patients and families, keeping the safety of the patient in mind.
+ Provides appropriate hand-off at change of shift at patient bedside to communicate and collaborate, promoting patient-centered care.
+ Conducts hourly rounding to ensure patient needs are met (four P's). Reports near misses and collaborates with the interprofessional health care team to improve patient safety.
+ Contributes towards improving quality and safety scores, through peer-to-peer accountability. Supports initiatives to prevent conditions such as pressure injuries, patient falls, and hospital-acquired infections.
**FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Assists with patient and staffing needs (floats) across the service line or hospital as competencies allow. Utilizes time between heavy workloads efficiently.
+ Utilizes resources with cost effectiveness and value creation in mind. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks, minimizing incidental overtime, assisting coworkers as needed.

Qualified Candidates:
• Must be board certified or board eligible in urology
• Ability to obtain a Texas medical license or have a Texas medical license in good standing
• Candidates with experience or new residents/fellows will be considered
• Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Job Description
The Hospitalist Physician provides overnight in-house care by responding to ER admissions and managing hospitalized patients at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. They coordinate with specialists and ensure smooth patient transitions to daytime hospitalists while participating in hospital initiatives. Candidates must hold an active Texas medical license and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities are responding to ER calls and admitting patients in the assigned hospital(s) 7pm to 7am (number of shifts can be decided amongst the team to ensure coverage every night).
• The nocturnal hospitalist will be required to stay in house for the duration of the shift. They will be responsible for all calls regarding admissions to Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.
• The nocturnal hospitalist will not be the primary on Kelsey-Seybold patients admitted to the intensive care units at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.
• Expected to efficiently manage patients in hospital and interact with specialists to coordinate care.
• Transition the follow up care to the daytime hospitalist safely and effectively.
• Participate in hospital committees, initiatives, and KSC Hospital Service/IM Department activities.
