**The Challenge:**
+ Interact with and assist Principal Investigator (PI) at the NSMRL in all aspects of non-human subject experimental planning, data collection, and data analysis.
+ Interact with and assist Principal Investigator (PI) at the NSMRL in all aspects of human subject experimental planning, data collection, and data analysis.
+ Independently assist Principal Investigator (PI) with the preparation of literature reviews, research protocols, analyses, briefing packages, purchase requests, technical reports and publications.
+ Apply precise experimental methods to acquire human-subjects' and non-human subjects data. Prepare necessary support documentation through detailed standard operating procedures, technical memorandums and staff training.
+ Prepare, review, and disseminate various internal or external communications, subject to government approval.
+ Provide planning and research support to various projects or studies as directed.
+ Ensure consistent communication with team personnel and other contacts in order to keep abreast of developments in areas of interest identified by the Government PI.
+ Assist Government PI with preparing and/or editing technical or periodic reports, records, documents, and correspondence.
+ Coordinate activities and schedules of the extended research team.
+ Perform various other tasks assigned toward project completion.
+ Travel to support projects both in and outside of the United States.
+ Assist UPPER team with data collections, data organization, and administrative support.
+ Execute setup, testing, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment.
+ Adhere to and implement scientific review board and institutional board review procedures.
**What Sets You Apart:**
+ Candidates must have completed at least a Master's degree with applicable experience.
+ Knowledge of workflows for cell culture and relevant process optimization and troubleshooting
+ Experience in performing and optimizing biological assays
+ Demonstrate the ability to extend and apply the knowledge of research to the missions of the NSMRL Command and the Navy.
+ Interpersonal communication skills are required to interface will all affected teams, personnel, and vendors.
+ Ability to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET classification access level. Preference will be given to a candidate who already has this clearance level, but current clearance is not required.
+ **Due to Federal contract requirements, US citizenship is required.**
+ Maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
+ Work is to be primarily performed on a government installation. The normal work week is Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630.
+ Some offsite travel (~10%) may be required for data collection efforts, presentations, etc.

**Position Purpose:**
Under general supervision, but according to established procedures, performs a variety of physical tests such as Electrocardiograph, Graded Exercise Stress Test and Holter Monitors/ Event Monitors in order to assist physicians in the determination and diagnosis of disease or dysfunction.

Job Description
Teaching responsibilities may include graduate and medical student instruction and training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing a successful, extramurally supported research program. We seek investigators with demonstrated excellence in research grounded in fundamental mechanistic investigation that leverages molecular, biophysical, structural and/or cell-biological insights to inform physiological functions, particularly those emphasizing emerging areas, novel technologies, and interdisciplinary areas. The Department has strengths in metabolism, membrane transport, the cytoskeleton, molecular motors, signaling, and neuroscience, but applicants are not limited to those fields. The ideal candidate will have a vision for leveraging the rich and uniquely collaborative and translational environment at the University of Pennsylvania to tackle fundamental questions in physiology and biomedicine.

The Department of Medical Education is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position (1.0 FTE) in Physiology at any rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor). The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum design and the delivery of physiology content within the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM) Total Health Curriculum (THC), an 18-month integrated, active learning-based program. Rank and salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Established in Scranton, PA, in 2008, GCSOM was founded through the efforts of visionary individuals who recognized the value of a community-based medical school. GCSOM is part of the Geisinger College of Health Sciences, which includes a School of Nursing, a School of Graduate Education, and a Research Institute across six regional campuses. This position is located at the Scranton, PA, campus.
Job Duties
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with the faculty team to develop and deliver integrated Physiology content for medical and graduate programs.
+ Participate in the creation of formative and summative assessments.
+ Serve as a co-course director for phase 1 (pre-clerkship) courses.
+ Engage in collaborative scholarship in medical education or your field of expertise/interest.
+ Supervise and mentor medical students on scholarly projects.
+ Participate in the medical student interviewing and selection process.
+ Maintain professional growth through seminars, training, workshops, current literature, and professional affiliations.
+ Contribute to departmental, institutional, or field-related service activities.

+ Demonstrated ability or potential to develop scholarship in medical education or your field of expertise/interest, consistent with academic rank.
+ Preferred candidates will have experience in course development/leadership and/or leading faculty teams.
