About You and The Role
Zipline is looking for a Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) to join our Flight Operations team as we expand our operations at our Remote Ops Control Center, near Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate for this role has a passion for aviation, attention to detail, and the ability to leverage good judgment as part of a highly motivated team. This position will be based at our Control Center near Charlotte and will play a key role in the development and success of our growing P2 operations.
The successful candidate will be expected to meet and maintain the qualification requirements to act as an RPIC for Ziplines's commercial drone delivery service. In this role, the RPIC is responsible for safely operating a highly autonomous aircraft system with multi-aircraft missions within and beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), all while maintaining tight adherence to established policies, procedures, and FAA-associated regulations.
Note:
- Duties and responsibilities are expected to evolve to some degree as additional staff are hired, operations evolve, and new goals emerge. The following reflects the most current duties and responsibilities for the Controller (RPIC) position.
- For continued employment in this position, you must successfully complete Zipline's approved flight training program and receive a Zipline controller (RPIC) certification. The training program takes approximately 3-4 weeks and is conducted at our remote operations/training facility in North Carolina. You will be compensated for attending this training and expenses will be covered in accordance with Zipline's travel policy.
- Safely execute commercial flights as the responsible person in charge for all uncrewed aircraft arriving, departing, and aloft (includes preflight planning, pre-shift briefing, ongoing weather checks, airspace monitoring, etc.)
- Ensure broader operational compliance with documented policies, procedures and regulatory permissions.
- Complete administrative and training tasks, qualifications, and proficiency activities quickly and/or on schedule.
- Ensure appropriate and timely response to downtime, fleet issues, and other abnormalities as observed.
- Upon request, assist with audits and various aspects of operational oversight, including safety and compliance.
- Prior experience with UAS or traditional flight operations preferred
- Sound judgment and decision making abilities in a time sensitive, safety critical environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail, both in performing hands-on work and administrative or data related tasks
- An ability to work well in a small team environment or independently
- FAA-issued P107 remote pilot certificate
- Completion of Zipline Flight Controller (RPIC) training
- Valid Driver's license

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
The S61 Pilot-In-Command reports to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of the flight assignment and maintaining a high level of customer service. This full-time position will require a full understanding of the FARs applicable to Part 91, Part 133, Part 135, Part 137, and all company manuals, policies, and SOP’s.
As a Coulson Aviation Pilot, your primary missions could include aerial firefighting (Day or Night), timber logging operations, construction, ferry flights, reconnaissance, medical rescue, disaster mitigation, and related activities. With support from management, pilots will be responsible for organizing and managing the daily requirements of various contracts while representing Coulson Aviation in a professional manner. This includes courteous interaction with clients, mission preparation and execution, and accurate and timely reporting of operationally related information.
Additional pilot duties are to assist maintenance where needed, help keep aircraft in a clean and presentable condition and maintain accurate pilot flight logs and records which can include company related documents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- CFR 91.3 responsibility and authority of pilot in command.
- Reviews flight assignments and obtains briefing information regarding the purpose of the flight, weather, operating procedures, and any special instructions.
- Ensures that all pertinent information about flight operations will be disseminated to his/her shift change pilot.
- Assists in training crews to operate safely in and around helicopters; uses maps, operates fire and aviation radios, checks, cleans, and maintains helicopters, performs general housekeeping duties at crew quarters.
- Devotes two hours each day to group or self-studying of aircraft systems, EP’s, etc.
- Prepares or supervises preparation of flight plan considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, cruise performance, airport facilities and navigational aids.
- Ensures aircraft is preflight inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for the flight assignment.
- Ensures cargo is properly secured and provisions for passenger’s comfort, if applicable, and emergency equipment such as life vest, etc. are aboard.
- Determine compliance with duty and flight time limitations, properly certificated, adequately rested, and in proper dress.
- Ensures that all required forms, equipment, and material are on board the aircraft prior to flight.
- Records mechanical irregularities and discrepancies and ensures that maintenance personnel are informed of the item recorded.
- Verifies before beginning any flight that recorded items have been procedurally complied with, deferred, or corrected by maintenance personnel in accordance with the approved Minimum Equipment List for that aircraft, as appropriate.
- Shall ensure that all passengers, if applicable are properly briefed prior to taxi and that emergency evacuation assignments are understood.
- Files a flight plan if necessary.
- May delegate duties to other personnel but retains responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
- PIC must be highly knowledgeable of FAA regulations, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, Operations Manual, etc.

Flight encompasses all of the duties of the following job classifications: Inspector Aircraft, Mechanic Electrical and Electronics, and Mechanic Flight.
**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.**
**Position Responsibilities:**
-Perform operational checkout of aircraft prior to and during preflight
- Inspect explosive and armament installations
- Perform activities prior to flight status and final inspection and daily maintenance of completed experimental aircraft or major modification to experimental aircraft
- Inspect and/or perform bench and flight line operational checkout and inspect, troubleshooting, adjustment and repair of electrical and electronic systems
- Inspect the calibration, adjustment, troubleshooting, repair and modification of electronic test equipment used exclusively by production and at times may be required to inspect the calibration, adjustment, trouble-shooting, repair and modification of other electronic test equipment as directed
- Perform aircraft and/or spacecraft bench or flight line operational checkout, trouble-shooting, adjustment and repair of any electrical or electronic system
- Fabricate, adjust, trouble shoot, repair and modify aircraft electrical systems. Perform operational checkout of hydraulic systems and mechanical systems
- Diagnose and correct hydraulic and mechanical malfunctions. Operate engines during run-ups and troubleshoot when needed
- Perform engine buildup as assigned. Install, repair, and replace tanks, power plants, generators, and aircraft engines
- Install or replace reservoirs, etc. and repair leaks in same. Install or replace instruments such as fuel quantity, rate of climb and oil pressure indicators
- Splice, route, clamp, solder, and string tie wires or wire bundles
- Install and load ejection seats and guns. Install adjust, repair and replace structural parts and assemblies
- Fabricate parts such as skins, doors, aircraft frames, air bags, test panels, clips, brackets, angles and ribs without the aid of jigs and fixtures
- Modify aircraft components or aircraft support equipment
- Perform composite repairs
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):**
+ 5+ years of experience in electrical assembly installation
+ 5+years of experience in aircraft electrical modification to electrical wing and system components
+ 5+years of experience with military aircraft involving avionics and or electrical
+ Active Top Secret Clearance
**Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):**
+ Experience fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses; or any variety of electrical components, and associated equipment

Aviation Law Enforcement Specialist
The role of the Aviation Law Enforcement Specialist is to perform aviation-based law enforcement operations for the detection, prevention, interdiction, and apprehension of terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband and persons from illegally entering or attacking the United States. As an expert in aerial surveillance and pursuit activities, you will be responsible for conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels.

Acts as an Operational Specialist (OS) supporting program flight operations as an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Subject Matter Expert (SME) working in a small, close-knit crew environment providing expertise in support of mission requirements. Coordinate with DoD entities and agencies to facilitate cutting-edge product development to ensure client capabilities meet current and future objectives. Shall have strong knowledge of ISR operations, air navigation, aircraft mission planning, and the key factors in aircraft survivability. Recent operational experience is a must. Must be comfortable with managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment and possess the ability to complete assignments with little or no supervision. Requires deployments up to four months in length to remote sites with austere conditions. Work will be in support of multiple Combatant Commands to include but not limited to EUCOM, Indo-PACOM and CENTCOM.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
Duties include, but not limited to:
+ The primary responsibilities of an Operation Specialist (OS) is to perform Mission Planning and/or Operations support to external and internal customers prior and during missions and conduct flight following on the Joint Operations Command Watch Floor. The OS will maintain communications with the aircraft during all phases of flight via mIRC chat or beyond line of site satellite communications (BLoS SATCOM).
+ Support the review and/or develop collection deck(s), Air Tasking Orders (ATO), Special Instructions (SPINS), Air Coordination Orders (ACO), and other documents relevant to major joint air, ground, and maritime operations.
+ Deploys OCONUS working with US Military Forces and/or Foreign Allied Military Forces in Tactical Operations Centers, Military Intelligence Community.
+ Develop and deliver mission briefings, execute mission debriefings, and compile after action reports (AAR) as required.
+ Provide technical, tactical and operational Signal Intelligence, Electronic Warfare Analysis, Mission Planning and/or Operations support to external and internal customers.
+ Conduct real-time communication and distribution of multi-source information with aircrew and ground assets during all phases of flight via Tactical Data Link and chat (e.g., Link-16/mIRC) or beyond line of site satellite communications (BLoS SATCOM).
+ Operate ground-based Communications systems (e.g., ICS, PRC117, ARC 210/231) as well as Small Secure Datalink (SSDL) radios.
+ Maintain appropriate electronic and hard copy products, reports and records.
+ May provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel.
+ Perform other duties as assigned or required.

+ Read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
+ Must be able to complete any training courses required by the contract.
**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:**
+ A demonstrated technical understanding of Government communications networks and computer systems.
+ Experience with some or all of the following; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), geospatial/imagery intelligence (GEOINT/IMINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT).
+ Recent Operational ISR experience.
+ Experience with international operations.

+ Bachelor's degree in management or a related military discipline or 8 years of relevant experience.
