The Oil and Gas Division regulates the drilling and production of oil and gas in North Dakota. As a Pipeline Engineering Technician , you will play a key role in the Oil & Gas Division's mission by ensuring all DMR regulations and best practices are followed, and by conducting the job duties below:
- Conduct inspections of oil, gas, and produced water gathering lines and associated facilities within the jurisdiction of the Commission.
- Communicate with operators, contractors, independent inspectors, and surface owners regarding gathering pipeline rules and statutes.
- Review gathering pipeline GIS data updates to determine inspection scheduling and locate gathering lines.
- Respond to gathering pipeline leaks and coordinate cleanup with responsible party, surface owner, and reclamation specialist.
- Inspect the construction, integrity testing, maintenance repairing, reclamation, and abandonment of gathering pipelines to ensure work is done properly.
This full-time position is primarily field based with some office duties. The office will be in Williston, ND, but remote office work may be allowed for those living in the surrounding areas. The position offers a strong work-life balance with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule ending by 5:00 p.m., year around flex schedule, with the potential of some overnight stays and minimal evening or weekend work.
The Hiring Salary Range is $38,160 - $3,160 per year, or 3,180- 4,430 per month.

To be considered for this rol e, you must have a High School Diploma/GED; a valid Driver's License; and experience with functions such as hydraulics, motors, pumps, pressure gauges, welding, or machinery. Must also have experience using Microsoft using Microsoft business applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.
Additional Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Include , an Associate's Degree in a related field, or oil & gas experience, as well as good verbal & written communication skills, familiarity with GIS mapping software, and the ability to work in the ND climate. Knowledge of pipeline construction, repair, integrity testing, API (American Petroleum Institute) standards, and ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) standards is also preferred.

LaBella’s Energy Infrastructure team provides comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy consultancy, including feasibility analyses and design. Our engineers are well-versed in all aspects of building and energy systems design relating to a variety of new construction, renovations, and design/build projects for a variety of clientele.
The Electrical Engineer will work with our team in a lead role on a variety of decarbonization/electrification/renewable energy projects to develop projects in feasibility stages all the way through design and construction. A successful candidate will be able to work well in a team, mentor junior engineers, and communicate effectively with clients.
Duties
- Design building electrical systems
- Design photovoltaic, battery storage systems, and grid interconnection
- Field investigations to document existing conditions
- Interact directly with clients by completing analysis of design options, cost benefit comparisons, and communicating results to assist in decision making process.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements
Requirements
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
- Well-rounded experience in building electrical system and/or distributed energy system design
- Experience with Revit or AutoCAD
- New York State Professional Engineer’s license is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Salary Range: $70,000 - $120,000 per year
