We are looking for a skilled Principal Member of Technical Staff (Network Design and Capacity Planning Software Engineer) with deep expertise in advanced graph theory, linear programming, and network flow optimization. What you'll do:

  • Design algorithms and tooling for implementing heavily meshed and tiered, reliable, large scale carrier grade network topologies capable of carrying Order of Exabytes per second of traffic with quality of service constraints.

  • Design and implement network performance troubleshooting tools.

  • Integrate capacity planning and network flow optimization tools with existing network management and monitoring systems.

  • Collaborate with network architects and engineers to ensure accurate problem modeling and effective solution deployment.

  • Document algorithms, tool usage, and provide training to stakeholders.

What you'll need:

  • Strong knowledge of key network flow concepts: nodes, edges, capacities, source/sink nodes, flow conservation, and bottleneck identification.

  • Proven experience in solving network flow optimization problems for computer networks.

  • Experience with advanced topics such as Multi-Commodity Flow, Dynamic Network Flow, and Stochastic Network Flow, Minimum cost flow, maximum flow problems, bin packing, knapsack and other complex graph theory problems.

  • Expertise in Linear programing and Mixed integer linear models

  • Expertise in representing and modeling networks using adjacency matrices and lists, with a focus on proper abstraction for efficient computation.

  • Experience in data engineering, data science, data cleaning, and outlier removal for large datasets.

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques for data analysis and validation, with experience in models such as ARIMA, Holt-Winters exponential smoothing, time series regression, and Bayesian networks for network traffic forecasting and anomaly detection.

  • Desirably, some familiarity with routing protocols like ISIS, BGP, MPLS, and MPLS-TE

  • Desirably, some familiarity with network observability protocols like Netflow, Sflow, TWAMP

  • Desirably, some exposure to SDN (Software Defined Networking) and automation frameworks.

What you'll bring:

  • Knowledge of various mathematical optimization techniques and understanding of real-world applications: communication networks, traffic management and resource allocation.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, BEAM PLANNING (STARSHIELD)

Starshield leverages SpaceX’s Starlink technology and launch capability to support national security efforts. While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.

As a Beam Planning Software Engineer on the Starshield program, you will be working on real time scheduling systems which coordinate the payload behavior for the Starshield constellation. Our goal is to ensure that space and ground hardware is optimally scheduled to minimize latency, maximize constellation uptime, throughput and reliability.

Our software engineers are responsible for the complete lifecycle of the software they create, including development, testing, and support. We expect our engineers to close the feedback loop between software design and real-world performance. In this role, your software will have a meaningful and measurable impact on the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop highly reliable, real-time software that plans and executes network topology for our low-latency, high-bandwidth satellite-based global network in order to connect assets and maximize user experience

  • Level IV - Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may also be considered.

Responsibility :

  • Level III - Independently manages Enterprise systems, implements new initiatives, and conducts system assessments and troubleshooting. Begins to lead small projects and works closely with other teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
  • Level IV - Leads projects for the design, deployment, and management of Enterprise systems. Takes on a leadership role in system design and troubleshooting, and provides technical support across the IT function.
  • Level V - Oversees major projects for the design, deployment, and management of Enterprise systems. Provides leadership in system design and troubleshooting, and provides expert technical support across the IT function.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations : The following relevant certifications are a plus:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

Specialized Skills:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Extensive experience with Enterprise systems implementation and management.
    • Proficiency in project management and system analysis.
    • Strong knowledge of business process improvement and quality assurance.
  • Tools and Technologies:
    • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
    • Familiarity with various Enterprise systems and solutions.
    • Proficient in documentation and reporting
    • Proficient in scripting languages (JavaScript, Python).
    • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Ivanti ITSM, etc.
  • Security:
    • In-depth understanding of data/program security best practices.
    • Experience with security tools and technologies.
  • Other:
    • Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
    • Experience in managing third-party vendors and contracts
    • Experience in managing and leveraging APIs, REST services, etc.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent customer service focus and positive attitude.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
