**Job Summary**
The Power Plant Engineer provides technical support for power generation operations & maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally compliant plant performance. This position focuses on evaluating system performance, supporting maintenance planning, analyzing operational data, leading major maintenance & Capex projects, and assisting with environmental and regulatory compliance.
**Key Responsibilities**
Management
+ Support and reinforce plant safety and environmental compliance programs.
+ Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance by supporting audits and environmental assessments.
+ Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, drawings and maintenance plans.
+ Coordinate activities with Vendors/Contractors, other divisions, and departments.
+ Follow NRG procedures to ensure completion of quality work in a timely manner.
+ Participate in capital and O&M budget development for process equipment reliability.

Engineering & Maintenance
+ Conduct or support with inspections, testing and condition assessments of power generation systems (turbines, generators, boilers), auxiliary components and facilities.
+ Support with troubleshooting & perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective strategies.
+ Evaluate component condition and repair options on a regular basis.
+ Perform field inspections and takes field measurements.

+ Recognize problems and proactively resolve them by identifying and implementing new or existing technology.

Operations Reliability
+ Identify Critical equipment and devise maintenance strategies to maintain highest equipment reliability.
+ Analyze performance data to identify trends and recommend system improvements or upgrades.
+ Identify & implement asset condition monitoring techniques to ensure reliable operation of assets.
Projects
+ Develop job scope and conduct job walks with contractors for bids and job execution.
+ Support outage planning & scheduling including development of inspection schedules and technical evaluations.
+ Develop quality work plans when required.
+ Supervise contractors & Inspect completed work or work in progress to assure job quality.
**Working Conditions**
+ Office and outdoor power plant work environment, High/low ambient temperatures, and high humidity, may require working at heights
+ May require some travel, requires operation of a motor vehicle and a valid driver's license, requires wearing personal protective safety equipment while in the plants,
+ Overtime or non-standard hours may be required.

**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
+ Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of power plant operation and systems.
+ 4+ years of engineering experience in a power generation environment (gas or steam turbines).
+ Experience with outage inspections, project implementation, and documentation development.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/CMMS, and plant data historian systems (e.g., PI).
+ Ability to learn new software and applications.
+ Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
+ Experience in combined cycle power plant.
+ Experience in vibration analysis, balancing of rotating equipment, and metallurgy.

The base salary range for this position is: $77,600-$139,680* *The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. **Essential Duties/Responsibilities** :
+ Prepare plans necessary for the design, purchase, installation, qualification, & modification of assets specific to our building and utility infrastructure systems.

**Key Responsibilities** **to Anticipate:**
+ Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the power and cooling systems at the Program's Overseas Facilities; to include Chilled Water Systems, HVAC, Power Generation, and Emergency Backup systems
+ Monitor the Facilities system operation through remote Building Management Systems (BMS) and diagnose and resolve issues as they arise
+ Develop and produce system status reports, for overall system health and status, as well as root-cause analysis
+ Develop scopes of work ranging from new design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation and maintenance
+ Contribute to technical discussions with a team of Engineers and system manufacturers for system design, recapitalization, and troubleshooting efforts
+ Develop and maintain project documentation to include drawings, technical specifications, and operational data
+ Oversee technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and cost analysis
+ OCONUS travel required; Quarterly maintenance trips, typically 1-3 weeks in duration. Additional trips may be required dependent on requirements
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Possess a Degree in a STEM field, or mustpossess an active Journeyman or Masters License with 5 years relevant work
+ Fundamental engineering skills and knowledge
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Plant Engineering

Working in a regulated cGxP environment, identifies engineering needs for site facilities. Defines projects, develops innovative solutions, determines engineered solutions, develops project documentation, obtains capital or expense resources, obtains and evaluates competitive bids, and implements engineering changes/additions. Controls expenditures and project execution. Develops FDA validation protocols and data. Represent site as Facilities SME on capital projects.

Facility Infrastructure Management - Supports the efficient operation of site facility infrastructure systems (to include all utility systems, HVAC systems etc). Monitors all system status and analyzes to identify trends. Develops maintenance strategies and programs (preventative, corrective, predictive etc) to ensure cost effective and reliable operation of all plant equipment and systems. Facilitates business units' capability to perform their functions.

Administrative - Develops and manages capital and expense budgets. Researches information and presents data on a wide variety of facility related topics including planning of facility needs, master facilities maintenance plan, and the disaster recovery plan. Performs management functions, including managing performance and providing training and development opportunities for staff. Acts as qualified trainer for Facilities related SOPs, programs to support site training needs.

Energy Conservation - Analyzes energy consumption, identifies energy savings opportunities, develops appropriate projects and implements to improve energy conservation to achieve site, and corporate energy reduction goals. Develops cost and energy savings metrics and reports.

Sustainable? Operations - Analyzes facilities processes and equipment to identify and implement opportunities to achieve Eco Team and Group Sustainability goals. Develops procedures, processes and/or projects to enhance sustainable operations at Bay Area sites.

Asset Management - Manage and maintain site asset listings, to include all buildings and grounds, utility infrastructure and equipment. Develop and manage Life Cycle Asset Management process, to include Facility Condition Assessments at each site. Proactively identify potential projects.
