**Who will you be working with?**
The Plant Manager role for Wabtec Railway Electrics (WRE) in Germantown, MD facility will have full business leadership responsibility for the manufacturing of onboard electronic equipment, sub-systems, and related components.
**How will you make a difference?**
This role will lead the site's global supply chain and facilities leadership team in the execution of continuous improvement focused around EHS and Site Compliance, Quality and Reliability, Customer On-Time Delivery, Functional Cost, Inventory, and Culture.

**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Responsible for employee health and safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
+ Utilize lean and continuous improvement methods to drive improvements in safety, reliability, quality, and cost.
+ Ensure financial controllership related to work-order transactions, inventory, manufacturing variances, and functional cost.
+ Establish site strategy ensuring investment and other required resources are aligned to achieve long-term outcomes.
+ Work with engineering, product and project management teams to implement projects to reduce product cost through optimized work scopes.
+ Drive and sustain culture of accountability, compliance, and operational excellence with both hourly and exempt workforces.
+ Ensure assigned employees are aware / comply with all Wabtec, government, customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
+ Develop necessary capacity and business contingency plans to ensure continued ability to deliver to customers when demand changes or facility problems arise.
+ Provide ongoing leadership, counseling, and support for the plant team, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$117,900.00-$168,000.00
The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. - Conduct daily Department toolbox meetings. Review safety information of work-related topics.
- Support and maintain the 5S work area(s). Monitor housekeeping requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Must be fluent in English, Spanish is preferred but not required
- Proficiency in working with trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques used in skilled and general production, maintenance, and equipment repair, maintaining equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.

About the Role
Our privately held, PE-backed aseptic food packaging facility is undergoing a major turnaround and modernization. We run a single, non-climate-controlled shift today-hot in summer, cold in winter-but we're planning to scale to multiple shifts and lines. We need an entrepreneurial, hands-on Plant Manager (or seasoned Operations Manager) who thrives in a small but high-stakes environment, knows liquid or can filling (food, beverage, shampoo, etc.), and can drive real change from the floor up.
Responsibilities
- Full Operational Ownership: Lead batching, processing, aseptic filling, canning/bottling, packaging, and shipping.
- Team Leadership: Directly manage Packaging, Process, Maintenance, and Quality Supervisors plus ~25 hourly staff.
- Turnaround Change Agent: Assess and rebuild processes, vendor relationships, and team culture left in disarray by prior leadership.
- Scheduling & Labor Planning: Implement shift structures, labor plans, and staffing as volume scales.
- KPI Development: Establish and track throughput, downtime, yield, labor efficiency, and other key metrics.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Oversee GMP, HACCP, SQF, and any regulatory programs; lead training on new systems.
- Equipment & Maintenance: Monitor performance, partner with Maintenance Manager to drive uptime and coordinate capital projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply lean/six-sigma tools to reduce waste, improve quality, and standardize workflows.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required (Engineering or technical field strongly preferred).
- 5-7+ years of plant or operations leadership in a high-speed liquid/aseptic filling, canning, or CPG packaging environment (food, beverage, personal care, etc.).
- Proven record as a turnaround manager-comfortable in a small, "hot and dirty" facility with minimal structure and high complexity.

Accurately track and record metrics, troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Act as a leader in terms of continuous improvement and change management. Analyze data drawn from production reports in order to identify possible improvements to better efficiencies and reduce quality defects. Communicate, implement and apply company policies and procedures. Motivate employees, be a positive source of influence, lead by example. Encourage autonomous work by empowering employees. Develop a training plan and ensure succession planning. Ensure the product quality standards are met through inspections and material testing procedures. Administer company safety program ensuring compliance with required training and OSHA safety procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5 plus years' experience successfully managing a precast concrete manufacturing plant. Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to present oneself and communicate in a professional, positive, and courteous manner with managing internal and external relationships. Strong knowledge of production management in the concrete industry or equivalent. Working knowledge of large machine operation, construction of infrastructure, and shipping and fulfillment. Must have knowledge and experience of implementing Lean manufacturing techniques. Demonstrated ability to provide direction, develop and lead a team, provide strategic direction, and inspire the team to achieve key goals in a timely and cost effective manner. Ability to apply problem solving techniques. Ability to provide clear and concise verbal instructions along with the ability to listen and ask questions to understand points made by others. Mathematical skills and mechanical abilities to diagnose and solve problems. Demonstrated pattern of positive attitude, strong work ethic, and dedication. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and manufacturing/ERP/database systems software. Proactive problem solving techniques. Possess thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work. Has sound planning skills, knows how to execute against respective action plans.
