This job maintains, operates, monitors, repairs all utilities and related central plant equipment and responds to maintenance requests for assistance to hospital, clinic and supporting facilities.
Maintains central plant in good, clean working condition maintains preventative maintenance (P.M.), and schedules and completes corrective maintenance to all equipment in a timely and professional manner actively documenting all activities and maintenance.

**Education**
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred - Associates degree in Operating Engineering
**Work Experience**
Required - Experience with water treatment for heating and cooling systems in order to efficiently protect the water and steam piping and integrity. Experience using HVAC/Temperature controls, Energy Management Systems, Computer Operations in order to maintain proper building temperature comfort levels.
**Certifications**
Required - Current 2nd Class Engineers Certificate for Air Condition / Refrigeration - ONLY if working at a facility in Orleans Parish*
Preferred - Current 2nd Class Engineers Certificate for Boilers & Air Condition
**Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)**
+ Knowledge of Pneumatic tube system operation in order to repair and maintain associated equipment.

The North Chicago Procter & Gamble Plant operates 7-days per week. We rely on local talent and relocation is generally not paid. Technicians work any day of the week, including weekends. Work on weekends may be as overtime or as part of the Technician's normal schedule. Changes in business volume and production requirements can cause the plant to occasionally change the length of work shifts or the rotation schedule. The hours are on a rotating 12 hour shift schedule including weekends, and must be available for overtime as required. Generally, the rotation occurs every 6 weeks across 1st shift, 2nd shift, and 3rd shift. Technicians are expected to be willing to rotate and to work any shift. Additional days could be required to be worked as overtime.

We are looking for qualified candidates with a minimum of having vocational training and/or mechanical experience and prefer candidates with five (5) years' power plant experience. The H.A. Wagner Plant is a natural gas and oil-fired generating station. The position reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Primary Purpose & Summary:
Provides safety and environmental stewardship. Primary Purpose & Summary:
Provides safety and environmental stewardship. Operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings on all power plant equipment and systems. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures. Keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition.
Requires the use of computerized application programs (such as timekeeping software, Operations Logbook, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Safety Training, Email, etc.).
Work requires 12 hour rotating shift work schedule, including holidays, weekends in addition to overtime and possible call-ins. This is a multi-skilled position requiring the development of knowledge and skills in the Plant Operator Qualifications Training Program, as well as development of basic knowledge of plant maintenance (mechanical, electrical, and instrument & controls).
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures that appropriate safety procedures are followed.
2. Operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings as required to maximize asset value.
3. Performs preventive maintenance tasks and records preventive maintenance activities.
4. Assists in training and development of other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, safety, and environmental stewardship.
5. Assists with equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions.
6. Assists with developing/modifying operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
7. Assists in requisitioning parts and supplies.

• Has working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical/scientific methods or operational processes; Mechanical Aptitude a plus
• Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise
