**Job Posting Details** **:**
Talen Energy has job openings for Plant Technician-Maintenance. The position will be located at the Brandon Shores Power Plant in Baltimore, MD (Pasadena area). Brandon Shores is a coal fired generating station. The position will report to the Production Supervisor. We are looking for qualified candidates with mechanical maintenance abilities. This position requires industrial rotating equipment mechanical maintenance skills and experience. Machinists and welding skills and abilities are preferred, but not required.
This position will require shift work. Plant Technician - Maintenance will be required to learn plant operational duties and complete operational training qualifications. Plant operational duties will be required as directed.
The expected salary range for this position is $95,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Successful candidates will also participate in Talen Energy's Short-Term Incentive program.

**Primary Purpose & Summary** **:**
The Plant Technician-Maintenance, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, overhauls, diagnoses, tests and maintains all power plant equipment and systems. Provides environmental and safety compliance. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures. Keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. Develops maintenance procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation.
**Responsibilities** **:**
Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all equipment as required to support plant operations. Uses computerized maintenance management system to maintain and control work order system spare parts inventory and to properly close and document completed work orders. Trains and develops other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Assesses equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions. Develops maintenance procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. Ensures that appropriate safety tagging procedures are followed. Assists in requisitioning parts and supplies. Operates, maintains and troubleshoots various types of equipment. Ensures equipment maintenance schedules are adhered to and any malfunctions are reported, documented and addressed. Will be subject to rotating shift work, holiday and weekend work in addition to short overtime notice. Serves as technical liaison between Contract Administrator and contract service provider. Completes all compliance training requirements (NERC, OSHA, Environmental, etc.).
**Skills/Competencies** **:**
Performs job duties safely and adheres to all safety and environmental compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to complete job assignments in a setting that requires teamwork, as well as independent decision making in an industrial environment. Skills are required in the area of maintenance. Solid communication skills, both verbal and written. Willingness to train in other areas (operations, mechanical, electrical, I&C, etc.).
**Education & Experience Required** **:**
Strong mechanical ability. Machinist and welding skills and abilities are a plus, but not required. Hands on experience with all aspects of power plant mechanical maintenance and a working knowledge of power cycles. Ability to work in a high-performance work system with minimum supervision. Working knowledge of Excel and PC based applications. Over four years of work experience or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
**Licenses/Certifications Required** **:**
Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving standards.
**Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:**
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail, despite interruptions, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen for long periods of time. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. At times, an individual may respond to environmental release situations.

Principal Accountabilities 

  • Safely and effectively operate standard maintenance tools, including power tools, hand tools, and basic electrical testing equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including Annual PMs.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics with ease.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical and electrical issues independently.
  • Follow all safety rules, regulations, and departmental procedures; contribute to the development of safety techniques.
  • Identify and locate mechanical issues by observing equipment, listening for irregularities, and using precision instruments.
  • Prepare work sites, including scaffolding setup, safety measures, and occasional forklift use.
  • Execute maintenance tasks and respond to supervisor-directed interruption work.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to resolve issues and ensure task completion.
  • Conduct closeout activities: tool and parts reconciliation, sanitation tagging, production notification, functional testing, and PdM validation.
  • Complete and return hardcopy Work Orders with full documentation (description, symptoms, findings, time, labor, deficiencies, delays, feedback).
  • Maintain manufacturing process reliability and adhere to industry standards and specifications.
  • Understand and certify in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Identify follow-up work and gather necessary materials, tools, and documentation.
  • Investigate job sites for reactive work and determine scope.
  • Communicate effectively through written daily pass-downs.
  • Support and promote REPI (Rapid Equipment Performance Improvement) events.
  • A test will be administered after a 45-day period.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to work in the US without an humanitarian Parole status related to Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua or Venezuela which is subject to the Federal Register Notice of revocation by DHS on March 25, 2025
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English
  • Must be willing to work weekends and 12 hour shifts
  • Must have experience using basic hand tools and maintaining mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing machinery
  • Must submit a resume or complete work history with the application

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using formal techniques to evaluate systems, equipment, and processes.
  • High level of mechanical/engineering knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and implement solutions which improve operational effectiveness.
