Job Title: Plumbing EngineerJob Description
This role involves designing, coordinating, laying out, and selecting plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems and equipment. You will collaborate with other engineers and designers to resolve system design challenges.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain positive communication with clients and contractors.
+ Analyze project requirements to select appropriate mechanical systems considering costs, efficiency, and other technical and economic factors.
+ Maintain a project Plumbing Design File in accordance with departmental standards.
+ Survey existing facilities to document the conditions and exact locations of plumbing piping and equipment, then convert these documents to electronic format using Revit or AutoCAD.
+ Review building architectural and mechanical documents to calculate plumbing sanitary, storm water, domestic, natural gas, and fire protection requirements using designated software, then submit for review and approval.
+ Select plumbing equipment and coordinate selections requiring electricity with the Electrical Engineering Department regarding voltage, phase, horsepower, etc.
+ Utilize experience and knowledge of building construction and mechanical systems to layout plumbing systems in an organized, fundamentally sound manner.
+ Draft basic system design layouts, isometrics, schematics, and details using Revit or AutoCAD.
+ Review submittals and equipment shop drawings as directed by the Mechanical Engineer responsible for the project.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 1 year of professional experience designing commercial or industrial plumbing systems.
+ Proficiency in Revit.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred, but an associate degree with experience is acceptable.
+ Experience in Med Gas design is a plus.
+ CPD or CPDT certification is advantageous.
+ Open to candidates with 5-10 years of experience.
Work Environment
The work environment is an open-office cubicle setting in a 32-person MEP Engineering company that collaborates on various projects including government, healthcare, hospitality, and multifamily projects. The plumbing team consists of two experienced designers. The dress code is business casual, with flexible hours from 7-8 AM to 4-5 PM, including a one-hour lunch break. The office is located on the north side of Indianapolis. It is a deadline-driven environment, especially as project deadlines approach.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $45.91/hr.

**Required Qualifications**

We work closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment. Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of plumbing systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects in the public and private sector. Your Impact

Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
+ 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior plumbing and mechanical design experience.

+ Proficient knowledge of plumbing and mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.

    P2S has an exciting opportunity for a Plumbing Engineer with 5+ years of experience designing plumbing systems for new buildings and renovations within the healthcare market-including hospitals, medical office buildings, and support facilities such as central plants.     General Responsibilities
    As a Plumbing Engineer, you will lead medium to large-scale healthcare projects from all perspectives-technical, administrative, and financial. You'll apply advanced design principles, perform complex calculations and modeling, and prepare construction estimates and specifications. You'll also manage project budgets, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to business development efforts.
    Design & Project Execution
    ⦁ Independently plan and execute plumbing design projects
    ⦁ Apply advanced engineering concepts to solve complex problems
    ⦁ Prepare construction estimates and specifications
    ⦁ Review submittals, produce meeting reports, and lead construction meetings
    ⦁ Troubleshoot operating systems and perform peer reviews
    ⦁ Attend job walks and contribute to proposal development
    ⦁ Travel to job sites for evaluation and data collection
    Position Requirements
    ⦁ Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
    ⦁ California P.E. or CPD registration (preferred)
    ⦁ P.E. registration in other states is a plus
    Experience Required
    ⦁ 5+ years of plumbing design experience in healthcare facilities
    ⦁ Strong understanding of healthcare codes and standards
    ⦁ Ability to lead projects from concept through construction
    Working Knowledge
    ⦁ California Plumbing Code
    ⦁ National Plumbing Code
    ⦁ California Energy Code
    ⦁ HCAI codes and standards (strong knowledge preferred)
