Summary:
The Business Intelligence / Report Developer turns raw data into actionable insights for business users and translate requirements into effective data models and visualizations. Responsible for new report development and maintenance and support for existing reporting solutions, this position involves extensive collaboration with the development team and end users to design, document, develop, test and deliver effective and efficient business solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data warehousing, business intelligence and reporting tools, coupled with a strong analytical mindset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Reporting and Analysis: Maintain the portfolio of existing reporting solutions, establishing and implementing a prioritized upgrade schedule to enforce current design and development standards.
  • Design and Development Standards: Define and document a consistent framework for producing high-quality, impactful and maintainable reporting solutions.
  • Requirements Gathering: Work with business users to gather, define, and document requirements for new data and reporting initiatives.
  • Solution Development: Design, build and maintain comprehensive Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, including SSRS reports, Power BI dashboards and paginated reports, and ad-hoc queries.
  • Collaboration and Deployment: Partner with the IT Infrastructure team to deploy solutions, configure security and provide technical application support.
  • Change Management: Manage and maintain all objects within the change control management systems (Team Foundation Server and GIT).
  • Process Improvement: Establish and document standards for the development, testing and deployment lifecycle, ensuring all solutions are efficient, scalable and supportable.
  • Training and Support: Conduct training and provide technical support to business power users and subject matter experts, empowering them to effectively leverage data models and reporting tools.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Proactively identify, communicate and resolve issues related to data quality and reconciliation.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with both internal teams and business stakeholders.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Very strong enterprise level PowerBI and SSRS design and development
  • Very strong Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft T-SQL experience with proven knowledge in writing complex SQL
  • Performance tuning of new and existing reports for optimum execution
  • Ability to understand and document business requirements for conversion into effective and supportable solutions on schedule
  • Successfully prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills coupled with a strong work ethic
  • Prior work experience in financial, accounting, or banking industry preferred

**Core Duties:**
+ Provide complex analysis and recommendations regarding data management and the design of dashboard and reports; may develop interactive queries and dashboards for central and distributed users.
+ Lead and own organization-wide complex business intelligence reporting and analysis initiatives; ensure initiatives directly support the organizational mission and are delivered on schedule and budget.
+ Lead data stewardship efforts and develop the metadata supporting the applicable reporting systems. Define and enforce interface design standards and best practices. Audit compliance and provide direction in non-compliance situations.
+ Coordinate the development and enrichment of an enterprise data model assuring reporting system development builds upon the existing data foundation and data model conflicts are resolved.
+ Troubleshoot business intelligence environment problems and opportunities for improvement and coordinate with application team to resolve application bottlenecks and performance issues.
+ Mentor and support the training of new and existing staff in business intelligence design and development.
+ Coordinate the planning, development and presentation of training for users of BI reporting and analysis.
+ May plan, mentor, coordinate, monitor and review the work of other information analytics-type staff during all phases of a project.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**
**Education & Experience:**
Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Work experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics or engineering.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and workflow.
+ Strong project management skills and ability to understand and apply the software development lifecycle.
+ Demonstrated ability to review business processes and translate into BI reporting and analysis solutions.
+ Extensive experience in data analysis and root cause analysis and proven problem solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
+ Demonstrated ability with enterprise application and database driven applications.

+ Must wear personal protective equipment as defined/required by job assignments. SUDPS is a public safety agency; in the course and scope of one's duties, personnel will be exposed to potentially dangerous and adverse working conditions.
+ May be exposed to persons who pose a danger to self or others, active laboratories, outdoor work and inclement weather conditions.
**Special Requirements:**
+ Applicant must pass a detailed police background investigation including a search of local, state, and national files for criminal history.
