AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the development of all Finance procedure manuals:
    • Writes, rewrites and edits documents
    • Conducts review and approval meetings
    • Acquires subject matter knowledge by interviewing and observing task specific Finance personnel
  • Responsible for ensuring all updates and changes to Finance manuals are processed, documented and communicated to the Finance team
  • Responsible for the development of all Finance policies

  • Maintains all electronic and paper files as it relates to Finance policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-5 years of Accounting / Finance experience with proven written communication skills; government contracting experience preferred
  • 2-4 years' experience as a technical writer with emphasis on policies and procedures preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience interfacing with others to gather information needed to accurately gather necessary data
  • Experience with Microsoft applications and flowcharting software is required and proficiency demonstrated
  • General knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS and Disclosure Statements preferred

Overview

This position will be the primary individual responsible for the maintenance of accounting policies and procedures and well as accounting research efforts on both a Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") basis and a Statutory Accounting Principles ("SAP") basis. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the department-wide initiative regarding accounting policy and procedure development.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual accounting policy and procedure reviews/updates.
  • Actively monitor and communicate activities at the Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ("NAIC").
  • Drive GAAP and SAP research projects leveraging resources from functional groups within Finance.
  • Actively monitoring and coordinating activities as it relates to the records and information management policy and procedures within Finance to ensure all departments are adhering to the policy.
  • Responsible for quality control of the quarterly and annual documents filed with the SEC, and NAIC through the review of disclosure checklists, among other things.
  • Ensure company compliance with GAAP and SAP.

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Significant knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations and/or SAP.
  • Excellent analytical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage resources in the completion of joint projects.

Education and Experience
