**NJ Advance Media** is searching for an enthusiastic, self-starting, digitally savvy journalist to help us build on our already expansive reach in political trending content. The experienced writer/editor will supervise a team that seeks to spot hot political and news stories and post quickly, while also smartly turning that buried news nugget or podcast comment into an engaging post with a compelling and irresistible headline.
The candidate should have experience supervising others and editing trending news stories. While their primary function will be to write, they will also be asked to guide day to day coverage and strategize its evolution, bringing new and innovative ideas to the table to grow our audience.
And while the position will concentrate on politics, media and news (local and national), the ideal candidate will be versatile enough to write on pop culture, entertainment, sports and weather - or any topic that will create high-interest posts to reach new readers.
The base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $72,000 per year.

Job Summary:
MSNBC Digital is hiring a Deputy Managing Editor - Politics to oversee and coordinate coverage from our powerhouse Washington, D.C., bureau. The ideal candidate will be an excellent editor who knows how to shape pitches and story ideas but can also jump in and get their hands dirty with copy when needed.
This editorial leader will shape and execute our strategy for political coverage. The Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in American Politics or Comparative Political Behavior. This position would begin in Fall 2026. The department is interested in applicants with expertise in American political institutions, American elections, American political behavior, or elections and political behavior in countries other than the United States. Successful candidates will have a strong record of demonstrated research excellence. The Department of Political Science and Local Politics and Policy Lab at Emory University invite applications for a Pre-/Post-Doctoral Fellowship for one year. Directed by Professor Natalia Bueno, the Local Politics and Policy Lab conducts cutting-edge, rigorous empirical research on local politics and policy around the globe (United States included), especially on issues of housing, municipal finance, decentralization, public service provision, and local elections. **Your Role Accountabilities.**
**Editing & Production**
+ H elp lead the editorial direction for two political shows.
+ Work with Executive Producer and other producers on the team on planning all aspects of a program's visual and editorial presentation.
+ Boil down the week's political stories in a dynamic and smart way. Write concise and incisive copy and suggest thoughtful, topical political elements.
+ Read and monitor multiple and diverse sources of information.
+ Collaborate with hosts on direction of segments and refine the must-ask questions and follow-ups for weekly high-profile interviews.
**Booking, Development & Pitching**
+ Your strong editorial skills will help ensure the team pursues the newsiest guests in politics and public affairs and covers the political stories that are dominating the headlines as well as look ahead to developing political stories.
**Management**
+ Oversee staff to ensure high level of editorial and production consistency.
+ Create opportunities for the development and growth of staff members in a creative, collaborative environment.

**Breaking News**
+ Accurate, rapid establishment of facts on a story that is developing.

**Qualifications & Experience.**
+ The successful candidate for this position will have +10 years experience in television news, with at least five years as a show producer at a cable or broadcast network.
+ It further requires rock-solid editorial judgment particularly in the fields of politics and public affairs, segment production, strong writing skills, extensive control room experience and a thorough understanding of news production
+ Must be a creative thinker who can generate numerous stories under intense deadline pressure and changing circumstances.
+ This producer must be familiar with all aspects of television production including graphics, editing, digital news gathering and live remote broadcasting and be comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
+ A bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
+ Must be able to work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require and to travel if needed.

Instruct college students in accordance with educational theories and techniques. Develops discipline related curricula, assess student learning, participates in program evaluation, and college activities. Maintains college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan.

Master's degree in Earth Science, Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, Physics, Physical Science, Astronomy, or Geoscience or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Earth Science, Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology, Physics, Physical Science, Astronomy, or Geoscience.

Ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom; must be able to use the technology required for the assigned course. Coursework within the degree must reflect competencies in the courses to be taught.
