**Responsibilities:**
+ Troubleshoot and resolve daily technical issues in production
+ Analyze defects and optimize formulas or processes for better output
+ Use data analysis and statistical tools to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and sustainability
+ Document process changes, results, and recommendations through technical reports
+ Assist with scaling up R&D projects from lab to production
+ Evaluate new materials and vendor proposals for performance and runnability
+ Support initiatives in green chemistry, recycling, and upcycling
+ Lead technical aspects of product development using Design for Six Sigma and Stage-Gate processes
+ Act as a liaison between manufacturing, marketing, procurement, and R&D
+ Oversee development timelines and ensure successful full-scale product launches

We're seeking a Polymer Manufacturing Engineer to lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) efforts across major engineering projects. This role focuses on part design, injection molding, resin selection, cost optimization, equipment, supplier management, and manufacturing processes. Operating in a centralized engineering environment, you'll apply creativity and initiative to drive quality and efficiency. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop thermoplastic parts and molds that meet high standards for quality and performance, supporting the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
**What You'll Do (Responsibilities):**
+ Lead suppliers in developing optimized molding processes that produce high-quality parts with reduced cycle times.
+ Create and manage tool concept sheets for critical plastic parts and molds, integrating them into cost estimation workflows.
+ Validate tooling through closed-loop feedback and standardized manufacturing engineering practices.
+ Continuously improve mold tooling and manufacturing processes with Tier I suppliers and internal teams, aligning with GM global standards.
+ Support Strategic Tooling Initiatives (STI) to deliver high-value solutions in collaboration with suppliers.
+ Establish transparent workflows between tool concept inputs and cost outputs.
+ Develop and train others on best practices for injection-molded parts.
+ Partner with Product Engineering teams to implement effective design and manufacturing strategies.
+ Apply expertise in Class-A surface appearance requirements for molded, painted, chromed, or metalized automotive parts.
+ Formulate cost-effective, high-quality solutions by optimizing part design, tooling, and processing variables.
+ Collaborate globally to develop plastic part and tool designs that meet cost and quality goals.
+ Use mold filling analysis software to deliver design solutions that reduce mold debug time and improve part quality
**Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):**
+ Hands-on experience with plastic processing and/or tooling.
+ Proficiency in Unigraphics NX or equivalent CAD software.
+ Familiarity with injection mold filling analysis tools such as Autodesk Moldflow.
+ Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
**What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):**
+ 5+ years of experience in plastic processing and/or tooling.
+ MS in Plastics or Mechanical Engineering and/or MBA.
+ Autodesk Moldflow Associate or Professional Certification.

Kelly Services is currently seeking a **Polymer Process Engineer** for one of our top clients in Raritan, NJ.
+ We are seeking an enthusiastic Polymer Process Engineer with expertise in scaling up laboratory synthesis of Polyoxazoline POx derivatives to pilot-scale production.
+ In this role, you will collaborate closely with Polymer Synthetic Chemists to optimize and transfer processes for large-scale manufacturing.
+ This position offers you the opportunity to drive innovation in polymer technology within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Polymer Synthesis: Hands-on experience with lab-scale synthesis of polyoxazoline POx derivatives, utilizing both well-established and novel techniques to ensure high-quality outputs.
+ Pilot Scale Development: Lead the progression of synthesis processes from lab to pilot scale, partnering Polymer Synthetic Chemists to fine-tune parameters for larger-scale operations.
+ Process Optimization: Develop and implement process improvements to enhance yield, efficiency, and sustainability.
+ Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results; prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
+ Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including synthetic scientists, analytical chemists, and quality control personnel, to integrate POx materials into product development.
Qualifications Education:
+ Ph.D. or Master s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
+ Polymer Process Engineer
Experience and Skills
+ Proven experience scaling synthetic polymer processes for medical device or pharmaceutical applications.
+ Proficient in troubleshooting, process optimization, and statistical analysis for process control.
+ Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
+ At least 3 5 years of relevant industrial research experience is required.
Preferred Attributes
+ Strong communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and the ability to work both independently and in teams are essential.
+ Diligent attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and lab safety.
+ Willingness to travel up to 30 as needed
