The Portfolio Manager oversees the O&M and new development of a portfolio of applications in an Agile environment to improve performance and availability of critical applications and timely resolution of issues and outages. You will interact with product development teams, network services, cybersecurity, and customer service teams to coordinate operations and maintenance of deployed systems.

What Youll Get To Do

  • Support critical end user applications and work in a highly Agile environment as both a mentor and technology leader
  • Oversee daily infrastructure, systems, services, & external interfaces production ops support
  • Support internal IT, Product, and Shared Services teams with operational support issues
  • Primary interconnection between Product Teams and ITI2.1 Operations Shared Services
  • Serve as Portfolio POC for ITI2.1 Contractor facilities
  • Perform and monitor system health checks
  • Monitor services, jobs and interfaces for failures, irregularities, and performance issues
  • Monitor availability, data replication, exports, data synchronization, and scheduled jobs
  • Support critical processes outside of normal hours to include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Work with the Release Managers, Product Teams, and Production teams to support Product releases into the field
  • Work with ITI2.1 Product Teams, Operations Managers, and Cybersecurity to develop SOPs and processes for incident management and resolution
  • Lead rapid response to quickly resolve issues and outages
  • Engage in incident support for end users as needed across portfolio of systems
  • Champion special projects and technical upgrades
  • Monitor Tier 2 and 3 support ticket queues to promote rapid response by all portfolio teams
  • Report metrics, assess system data, analyze error logs, & capture user reports
  • Responsible for operations support metrics and Portfolio service desk ticket queues
  • Interact with Portfolio Owner, Service Delivery Manager and Hosting Facility POCs

You Have

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes, but not limited to:
  • 3-year check for felony convictions
  • 1-year check for illegal drug use
  • 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and 7+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional Experience: 7 years related technical experience
  • Experience with supporting 6-8 production deployed applications
  • Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement in Sterling, VA

You Are Good At

  • Managing work with Jira products in the context of software development and reporting across multiple teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding traditional software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, CM, quality assurance, and release management
  • Experience with a variety of technology stacks and platforms (.NET, Java, SQL, Oracle, PostGres, NoSQL)
  • Experience with configuration and operation of monitoring tools such as Splunk Excellent written and verbal communication skills

As the DoD Portfolio Manager at Umbra, you have the exciting opportunity to impress our customers and users with top-notch products and solutions that are delivered punctually and within budget, all while fulfilling our contractual commitments. Key Responsibilities

  • Profit and Loss Management and Program Execution: Have full accountability for successful execution (cost, schedule, technical) of multiple current contracts, either directly or through subordinate program managers. Update monthly financial actuals and forecasts. Ensure initiatives within portfolio are executing to plan. Provide accurate revenue and cost forecasting and reporting across portfolio.
  • Processes : Contribute to the development of Umbra's Program Excellence Framework, a set of documented processes for program start-up, execution, and close-out. Leverage lessons learned and experience from prior programs, but tailored to how Umbra does business, to define lightweight processes for functions such as financial management, risk management, contractual deliveries, and monitoring performance. Also contribute to the development and documentation of Umbra's Capture Center of Excellence, focused on processes that result in a winning proposal (from bid decision gate through commitment review).
  • Growth and Strategy: Develop and deliver successful proposals and white papers that are complete, compliant, high quality, and have a high probability of winning. Define and execute growth strategies for current and follow-on contracts. Support company roadmaps by being the voice of the customer on their needs.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Current and active security clearance.
  • 10+ years of professional experience working in a program management, supporting USG contracts or the aerospace and defense domain.
  • Extensive experience working with department of defense customers.
  • Experienced leader able to build a plan, build a team, and execute with clear ownership and minimal oversight.
  • Direct experience with space industry program planning and execution.
  • Proven ability to manage technical development and/or R&D scope and technical teams.
