Our space blends the charm of an old-world apothecary with a curated selection of wines from producers across France, Europe, and California. We're seeking friendly, reliable, and wine-curious individuals to join our team in a hybrid role that spans both the retail shop and the wine bar. This is an hourly, tipped position ideal for someone who enjoys both customer interaction and hands-on work. The role includes retail sales, table service, and supporting our wine-focused hospitality experience.

Retail Duties

• Welcome and assist guests with wine selections in the retail shop
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations based on taste, occasion, and pairing
• Operate the point-of-sale system and handle all sales transactions
• Receive, label, and stock inventory while maintaining clean displays
• Ensure the shop is tidy, organized, and visually appealing

Wine Bar/Restaurant Duties

• Greet, seat, and serve guests in our dining and wine bar areas
• Take orders accurately and deliver food and wine in a timely manner
• Offer basic wine guidance; collaborate with our sommeliers for pairings and upsells
• Maintain clean tables and assist with resetting between seatings
• Perform opening/closing duties and support team with sidework throughout shift

• Must be 21 years or older
• Previous experience in hospitality, wine service, or retail preferred but not required
• A genuine interest in wine and enthusiasm to learn
• WSET Level 1 or 2 preferred; we also welcome applicants currently studying or eager to enroll
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs (wine cases) and stand for extended periods
• California Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)

SUMMARY OF JOB: The Retail Clerk is the face of Country Cookie. Your job is probably one of the most important. You have the responsibility of keeping a full case, welcoming customers in our store, answering the phone and taking orders, providing stellar customer service as well as keeping a tidy work area. To accomplish these tasks, this position works closely with the Operations Manager, Store Manager, Baker, and the Customer.

DAILY DUTIES:

1. Ensures that all activities conform to Country Cookie policies and procedures.
2. Communicate effectively and appropriately with all staff members.
3. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned and remains flexible in daily routine.
4. Support the mission statement of Country Cookie.
5. Give fast, friendly customer service.
6. Check in vendors by verifying that all items on the delivery ticket are received and order is put away by end of shift.
7. Sweep & Mop floors.
8. Clean restrooms.
9. Attend store team meetings.
10. Finalize daily shift paperwork.
11. Empty trash containers inside and outside of the store.
12. Adhere to and perform duties as defined in the Dough Mixer Job description if applicable.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Store Manager.

• Check production board for current orders and fill them.
• Prepare hand doughs to keep the secondary case full.
• Operate the ovens and Mixer and keep them clean.
• Use a variety of kitchen tools, including but not limited to; electric mixers, pans, rolling pins, and cutting tools.
• Always keep work area neat and tidy.
• Ensure that there are decorated cookies in the case.

Responsible for guest experience in the retail outlet: stocking, cleaning all shelves and fixtures/furniture, reporting to Retail leadership if anything negatively impacts the guests' shopping experience. High guest contact (in person or on the phone) and the art of giving superior service, using a pleasant and calm voice with perfect diction, and luxury standards adhered to. Ability to clearly explain body care and skin care ingredients and their benefits to the guests is critical. Follow all procedures for proper cash, credit card and gift card handling. Be personally responsible for cash bank. All communication regarding guest orders must be replied to within 2 business days and in a proper business format. Communicate closely with Retail Leadership regarding any issues with merchandise, the physical plant, inventory needs and daily ship outs. Maintains a clean and orderly work space. Excellent communication skills with internal and external guests is a must. Assists with pre- inventory counting when needed.

Desirable: Experience in a retail boutique setting or experience at a luxury resort.
