Strategic Operations Media Production Specialist

The Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit, consists of Washington DC Operations, Marketing & Communications and Strategic Development. What You'll Do:

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks to fill a Temporary Media Production Specialist position to support the Riverside University Health System - Public Health. This is a full time temporary position located in Riverside.

Schedule: 9/80 (Off every other Friday) or 5/40 (Monday-Friday)
Under general supervision, plans, develops, and produces multimedia programs for educational, public information, and training purposes; performs professional and technical work involved with production activities; and performs other related duties as required.

Incumbents are responsible for the production of video and other audiovisual programs covering a variety of topics and formats. Assignments require consultation and coordination with staff at various organizational levels on a wide variety of specialized or technical subjects.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

•May periodically capture high-quality photographs during events, incidents, and ceremonies throughout Riverside County using cameras in various formats; print photographs in both color and black and white.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in communications, telecommunications, broadcasting, media arts technology, instructional media technology, or a related field to the assignment. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of full-time experience equaling 30 semester or 45 quarter units of the required education.)

Experience: One year in the design and production of multimedia programs, including writing scripts and script outlines, and the use of a variety of media production and editing equipment.

Knowledge of: Multimedia program planning and development, including techniques of subject matter research, development and use of scripts, formatting and visualization of ideas and scheduling the use of equipment, personnel, and locations for production; communication theory related to multimedia presentations; techniques, materials, and equipment used in the production of multimedia programs including still and motion photography, staging, lighting, directing, sound and videotape recording, and editing; operation, capabilities, limitations, and maintenance of a variety of professional level media production equipment.

Ability to: Plan, develop, and produce multimedia programs in accordance with defined objectives; read and understand technical materials of varying degrees of complexity and incorporate such information into multimedia formats; write scripts and script outlines including dialogue, narration and production schedules; operate media production equipment (e.g., still cameras, video cameras and recorders, audio mixers and recorders, editing systems, video and audio tape duplicating equipment, lights and reflectors, and other equipment) used in order to produce titles, special effects, or graphics on video tape; estimate time, cost, personnel, and equipment requirements for multimedia productions; analyze multimedia communication and production problems, devise workable solutions, and take effective courses of action; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those involved in the production of multimedia programs.

MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT : County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).

Additionally, employees receive employer-paid Long-Term Disability Benefits, which cover 66.67% of pre-disability earnings, up to a maximum of 10,000 per month. There is a 365-day waiting period before these benefits become active. Employees may coordinate these benefits with other available leave balances to receive up to 100% of their regular pay.

• Operate video and sound recorders and other production and editing equipment; perform routine maintenance and minor repair work on media equipment; clean and repair equipment as necessary.

• Participate in the distribution of completed programs to other agencies and educational institutions.

• May periodically capture high-quality photographs during events, incidents, and ceremonies throughout Riverside County using cameras in various formats; print photographs in both color and black and white.

• Perform dodging, retouching, filtration, tonal, and contrast control operations; manage image and data files in computer databases.Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in communications, telecommunications, broadcasting, media arts technology, instructional media technology, or a related field to the assignment. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of full-time experience equaling 30 semester or 45 quarter units of the required education.)

Experience: One year in the design and production of multimedia programs, including writing scripts and script outlines, and the use of a variety of media production and editing equipment.

Knowledge of: Multimedia program planning and development, including techniques of subject matter research, development and use of scripts, formatting and visualization of ideas and scheduling the use of equipment, personnel, and locations for production; communication theory related to multimedia presentations; techniques, materials, and equipment used in the production of multimedia programs including still and motion photography, staging, lighting, directing, sound and videotape recording, and editing; operation, capabilities, limitations, and maintenance of a variety of professional level media production equipment.

Ability to: Plan, develop, and produce multimedia programs in accordance with defined objectives; read and understand technical materials of varying degrees of complexity and incorporate such information into multimedia formats; write scripts and script outlines including dialogue, narration and production schedules; operate media production equipment (e.g., still cameras, video cameras and recorders, audio mixers and recorders, editing systems, video and audio tape duplicating equipment, lights and reflectors, and other equipment) used in order to produce titles, special effects, or graphics on video tape; estimate time, cost, personnel, and equipment requirements for multimedia productions; analyze multimedia communication and production problems, devise workable solutions, and take effective courses of action; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those involved in the production of multimedia programs.This recruitment is open to all applicants.

The Social Media PA works closely with show runners and Producers integrating social content into broadcast and live-stream programs. The role includes curating social content, daily content and story/segment pitching, measuring social analytics to enhance and provide context to trending stories, working alongside Newsdesk and Legal to audit and clear content for air, content creation and programming various social feeds (X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), and developing interactive/touchscreen experiences, and cloud-based graphics production. The role includes daily support of the NFL Media talent group with social media strategy and content production. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to photo/video production/editing, reporting and analytics, content creation, cloud-based graphics, and emerging tech development. Expect non-traditional hours which include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong NFL/football knowledge

  • Working experience/proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Journalism, Media Studies, or Broadcast)

  • Experience in multi-media/broadcast production
  • Tagboard and video production/editing working experience is a plus

Terms /Expected Hours of Work
