The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Independently perform in depth system studies listed below; and/or specify scope, review, comment, and direct/oversee 3rd party provider(s) for the studies below:
+ Load Flow, Reactive Power Capability and Compensation, Power Factor Study
+ Short Circuit Study
+ Combined Short Circuit Ratio (CSCR) Study
+ Transient Switching and Insulation Coordination Study (including Transient Overvoltage and Recovery Voltage Analysis)
+ Main Circuit Parameters
+ Harmonic Performance/Stability Study
+ Transient Ride Through and Dynamic Performance Studies (DPS) and other Design Studies using the Offline Simulation Tools
+ Overall System Performance Assessment Study
+ Integration of dedicated studies for systems utilizing combined AC power sources; AC power sources include conventional generations, AC-BESS, turbines, and renewables.
+ Expertise in frequency and time-domain simulation tools, like PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory, to perform system studies as detailed above or under desired characteristics section.
+ Produce detail technical specifications and factory acceptance test criteria for major HV equipment, e.g., transformers, GSU, breakers, disconnect switches, etc.
+ Excellent technical communication skills to provide guidance, analysis and reports in clear succinct manner to customers, project team and stakeholders.
+ Provide guidance and coordinate the engineering tasks to meet the project/tender requirement.
+ Technical responsibility in areas of expertise.
+ Be innovative, develop and industrialize solutions tools and processes associated with system studies.
+ Value engineering (process improvement): review and record design processes and develop new or improved processes.
+ Enforce engineering discipline and set processes across all work tasks and adherence to company policies, quality procedures and work instructions (e.g., through trainings, technical reviews).
+ Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers.
+ Apply yourself towards improving your technical knowledge base and keep abreast of relevant methodologies and technological advancement within the company.
+ Support and mentor other engineers to increase the team's technical knowledge and competence.
+ Report or resolve any non-conformances in a timely manner.
+ Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering and preferably in AC substations and power plant System Studies.
+ Minimum 8 years' experience of network or transient studies for conventional electric-energy generation / FACTS / renewable energy / inverter-based power systems in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations and grid interconnects.
+ Able and willing to travel 20% including international and comply with GE travel guidelines.
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ Knowledge of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance requirements and/or ISOs' interconnection or transmission planning guidelines.
+ Familiarity with NERC standards such as TPL, MOD, and PRC.
+ Familiarity with ISOs such us PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ISO-NE, NYISO.
+ Master's degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering.
+ Knowledge of RAM (Reliability-Availability-Maintainability) studies.
+ Independently perform in depth system studies listed below and/or specify scope, review, comment, direct/oversee 3rd party provider(s) for the studies below:
+ Grid Compliance, Transmission Network Planning
+ Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Study, Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) Study
+ Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) and High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT) Study
+ Arc Flash Study
+ Protection Coordination Study
+ Cable Selection and Sizing
+ Network Study: Confirmation of the Correct Interaction between the Equipment, its Control System, and the rest of the Network
+ Control Parameter Study focused on Dynamics and Transient Performance
+ Grid forming study with an AC/DC power pack
+ Expertise in the use of computer mathematical and simulation tools as applied to the design of the activities.
+ Strong knowledge on medium high voltage substation North American standards & guidelines (IEEE & ANSI standards and codes such as the NEC and the NESC.), local grid codes and related equipment (safety, application, sizing, and integration). Moreover, ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided.
+ Knowledge of IEC and CIGRE guidelines is a plus.
+ Professional engineering license and willing to review and seal your work and the work of others under your supervision.
+ Strong knowledge on contract and project management, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), or engineering equipment package (EEP) project execution.
+ Working knowledge of applicable design calculations for primary & secondary equipment such as battery sizing & DC system component selection, power transformer and circuit breaker selection, circuit protection, control and power cable selection and rating, bus, fittings, insulator, and arrector selection, ground grid design, and lightning protection.
+ Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation.

The salary range for this position is 98,400.00 - 131,200.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
