**Job Summary**
The **Power Distribution Engineer** will work on electric utility aerial and underground distribution design projects and be responsible for field surveying, traffic control, field notes and sketches. Project types will include design of aerial and underground electric network distribution lines. Will work under the supervision of a senior designer and/or engineer.
**_Position would be fully remote but field work may be required; must be 2 hours or less from Richmond, Virginia._**
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters to deliver the most cost effective and highest quality infrastructure solutions.
+ Coordinate design/review of distribution projects for a utility, including preparation and review of bill of materials, clearance requests, permit applications, and equipment and labor units.
+ Perform field inspections and evaluations of distribution electrical systems.
+ Produce detailed design documentation including utility design system, line layout/routing, overhead and underground distribution, and identification of conflicting utilities.
+ Contributes to and implements design modifications to improve quality of projects and process improvements.
+ Apply design standards to underground and aerial pole line, including: Pole Replacement, Primary Service, and Reliability/Maintenance Design.
Qualifications
**Minimum**
+ Bachelors degree in Engineering, or equivalent related experience with the design of electrical distribution systems.
+ 2 - 5 years of experience in the Power Distribution industry.
+ Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook required.
+ Regional travel required, as needed for the job.
+ Must have a current valid driver's license with a clean driving record for up to the past 5 years.
**Preferred**
+ Familiarity with electrical standards including National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electric Safety Code (NESC) preferred.

**What You'll Be Doing**
**Job Scope:** We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in industrial power distribution to support Plant Engineering Services in a chemical manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient electrical power delivery across all plant systems, including high-demand process equipment, safety systems, and environmental controls.
**Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:**
+ Support capital projects from and plant expansions with electrical design and commissioning expertise.
+ Collaborate with discipline engineers, maintenance teams, and operations specialists to support projects.
+ Design, maintain, and optimize medium and low-voltage power distribution systems tailored to chemical processing operations.
+ Develop , Review, and Approve all electrical deliverables.
+ Specify electrical infrastructure including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, and related equipment.
+ Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and OSHA standards, as well as chemical industry-specific safety protocols.
+ Develop and maintain electrical documentation including single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications.
+ Review and verify vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for electrical/instrumentation input.
+ Contribute to establishing and revising electrical area classifications
+ Ensure equipment meets the requirements of the hazardous area designation.
+ Planning and organizing their work.
+ Communicating the plan to the project leadership team and the client.
+ Validating project and construction estimates at the beginning of a project and then tracking changes as the project progresses.

+ Utilizing and following department design and drafting standards.
+ Reviewing and verifying calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
+ Assisting the engineering designers in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.
+ Providing leadership to ensure communication and execution of work within scope, schedule and budget.

Power Distribution Technician (Associate-II)

Under direct mentorship, a Power Distribution Technician Associate will gain knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairing a variety of electronic and/or electrical equipment relative to their assigned location. Assist mentor with LOTO of equipment and function testing to verify equipment readiness. Must have a basic understanding of electronic and/or electrical schematics/drawings/prints. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2026 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Responsibilities

  • Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/reviews, cost estimates, research, procurement support, etc.
  • Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation
  • Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client
  • May work on field assignments as needed
  • Assist in auditing, field surveying, inspections, structural analysis and partial design
  • Field work includes but is not limited to data collection for joint use and completing site surveys for the distribution design team
  • Office works includes but is not limited to completing remediation for joint use and drawing work orders for the design team
  • Possible involvement in field inventory responsibilities requiring significant walking and time spend outdoors
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary

  • Must be at least 21 years old
