Job Summary:

The qualified candidate should have hands-on experience with Digital/Analog power electronics circuits. He/ She should be able to contribute to both existing legacy circuits, and to the design and development of the state-of-the-art Power Conversion Systems. The product line particularly consists of on-line Double Conversion Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and the related support circuitry. Candidates will be involved in every part of the development cycle from conceptual design to the implementation, testing, qualification, and on-time delivery. Candidates must be able to commute to offices in Irvine, CA and Orange, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the legacy products and contribute to the new R&D projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop system level testing and validation.
• Combine legacy boards and products with the newly designed systems to realize a new operating product.
• Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis of circuits and boards failures.
• Analyze components stress, requirements, and select the appropriate parts.
• Perform full product lifecycle which includes: initial design, design verification, qualification, initial production, and integration.
• Other tasks assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Power Electronics, controls, and on-line dual conversion UPS.
• Technical expertise in Power Electronics and converters, DSP interface, Digital and analog control loops, Magnetics (both high and low frequency inductors and transformers) and Battery energy storage.
• Experience with Battery Energy storage systems (e.g. Lead Acid, Lithium Iron Phosphate etc.) for back-up UPS power.
• Proficiency with oscilloscope, supply sources, signal generators, and circuits.
• Proficiency with component modeling using PSPICE, MATLAB/Simulink etc.
• Deep expertise in power switches, such as MOSFETs, IGBTs, SCRs, SiC technology.
• Ability to independently design, develop and test the circuit boards and systems.
• Hands-on experience in validation, verification processes and qualify new, or alternate components.
• Knowledge of 1-phase and 3-phase PFC Converter; 1-phase and 3-phase Inverter; DC-DC High Frequency Converter and Buck/Boost battery Charger/Discharger. Power rating is from 500 watt to 20 kW.
• Design/test for EMI filter.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). distilling date and generating test reports and presentations.
• Due to the nature of IntelliPower programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

Desired Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, particularly with a focus on power electronics.

**AECOM** is actively seeking to hire a **Traction Power Engineer** that is highly talented and hardworking as an addition to our growing team in the transit systems practice. **Typical duties and responsibilities;**
+ Will guide drafters/designers and less experienced engineers to prepare but not limited to single-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, emergency trip, grounding and lighting, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling, test plans, field tests, reports, analysis, and technical studies for traction power systems.
+ Will perform protective relay settings and coordination studies.
+ Will perform grounding design, load flow, harmonic, power flow, voltage drop, protective relay settings and coordination and arc flash studies using specialized software.
+ Will recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance with all client, local, state, and federal regulations including AREMA railway standards, the National Electric Code (NFPA 70), the National Electric Safety Code (IEEE C2), and other applicable US standards.
+ Will develop systemwide duct bank drawings by working in close coordination with respective system disciplines. Assist and provide working information to CAD for BIM clash detection.

**Job Description**
**AECOM** is seeking a highly talented **Traction Power Engineer** to join our New England Transit Group and can work out of one of our regional offices in New England. The qualified applicant must have knowledge of third rail systems and load flow study experience (performing load flow studies and analyzing them).
The primary role of this position is to prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with traction power system for electrified railways AC and DC. Will perform project work as well as serve as a technical leader.
**Responsibilities will include:**
+ Guide drafters/designers and less experienced engineers to prepare but not limited to single-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, emergency trip, grounding and lighting, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling, test plans, field tests, reports, analysis, and technical studies for traction power systems
+ Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies
+ Perform grounding design, load flow, harmonic, power flow, voltage drop, protective relay settings and coordination and arc flash studies using specialized software
+ Recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance with all client, local, state, and federal regulations including AREMA railway standards, the National Electric Code (NFPA 70), the National Electric Safety Code (IEEE C2), and other applicable US standards
+ Develop systemwide duct bank drawings by working in close coordination with respective system disciplines. Assist and provide working information to CAD for BIM clash detection.
+ Provide value engineering on traction power systems
+ Perform technical reviews of other team members' designs
+ Interface with other technical disciplines such as communications systems, overhead catenary/3rd rail, electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, track and civil.
+ Work with Senior Traction Power Engineers
+ Design with constructability in mind throughout all steps of the design process
**Qualifications**
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**
+ BA/BS plus 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Professional Engineering License
+ Experience with traction power AC and DC High and Low Voltage systems including relaying, rectifier, distribution, and SCADA equipment
+ Extensive experience in the execution and task leadership for design calculations, plans development, specifications, and technical report writing
+ Experience and knowledge of AREMA and IEEE standards for Traction Power design
+ Experience working on large transit/railroad projects with Substations, 3rd rail and/or Overhead Contact distribution systems
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ 15+ years of experience in Electrical/Traction Power design and construction of engineering projects
+ Experience with CTDOT, Metro-North, Amtrack, MBTA
+ Experience in design/build and other alternative delivery project
+ Familiar with AutoCAD and OpenRoads/OpenRail.
+ Experience writing technical papers and technical presentations
+ Experience with technical studies for traction power systems, including train performance simulations AC and DC load flow simulations, short circuit calculations, EMF/EMI studies
+ Leadership positions held on professional societies or technical committees
+ Experience in providing technical training
+ Experience in writing project proposals and delivery of oral presentations for purpose of business development
+ Experience with MBTA, CTDOT, Amtrak and Metro North.

**Job Summary:**
**AECOM** is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic **Traction Power Engineer** to join our team. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design, analysis of DC or AC traction power systems for railways, light rail transit (LRT), or other electrified transportation networks. The candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to real-world projects, gaining practical knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Assist senior engineers in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems, including substations, overhead catenary systems (OCS), and third rail systems.
+ Support the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
+ Perform calculations related to voltage drop, current flow, and power system performance.
+ Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
+ Conduct field inspections and site visits to gather data and observe construction activities.
+ Assist in the testing and commissioning of traction power equipment.
+ Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and documentation.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
+ Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders
+ Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., NESC, IEEE).
+ Maintain accurate project records and documentation.

+ Knowledge of power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools)

+ Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 6 years work experience in performing Traction Power projects
+ Electrical Engineering Degree with a focus on Power Systems
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Professional Engineer(PE) License
