Job Description:

TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students. Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC. The salary range for this position is $ 68,400.91 - $78,661.05. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY: Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.

Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.

Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Precision Machining instructors will perform a variety of technical instructional assignments and classroom preparation including conventional machine tool operation, blueprint reading/engineering drawings, precision measurement tools, set-up, programming, and operation of CNC lathes and mills, and the operation of CAD/CAM systems. Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a machining environment, which may include coursework in a Community College or University setting, using a variety of metalworking tools, processes and machines, primarily lathes and mills, and with experience in CNC / G-code programming. Must complete all National Institute of Metalworking Skills Level 1 credentials within the first year of hire (11 credentials). All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Considerations:

Associate's degree in a Career and Technical Education field preferred. National Institute of Metalworking Skills credentials preferred. Classroom Machining instruction experience, providing instruction in accelerated formats geared towards certification exam preparation. Demonstrated track record of high level of student credential and institutional outcomes with the ability to deliver instruction in the classroom and machine shop. Key Responsibilities:

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay range: Ultra Precision Machining Specialist/Level 4: $44.00 - $4.00/hour

Ultra Precision Machining Specialist /Level 5: 48.00 - 62.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Responsible for assisting in machine repair, painting, welding, and minor building repairs to keep the plant running smoothly and maintaining the cleanliness of work areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of CNC setup/operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced math, precision measurement, and blueprint interpretation skills.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot G & M code programs directly at the control.
  • Experience with HAAS; familiarity with Fanuc controls is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED with relevant vocational or job-related training.
  • Detail-driven with strong ownership and follow-through.

What You Will Do

  • Load, check, and run tooling and programs.
  • Set-up and operate multiple CNC milling and turning machine tools and grinding using text and graphic information supplied from the CAD/CAM system.
  • Monitor and maintain tooling during job run.
  • Perform in-process inspection and documentation results.
  • Support continuous improvement ideas and concepts.

What You Will Bring

  • Inspection Equipment : Proficient in using comparators, indicators, micrometers, height gauges, precision squares, surface gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (1-5 times/day), stand/walk up to 8 hours/day, and differentiate colors.
  • Communication : Strong verbal and written skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and toolroom teams.
