Your Role:

The Technical Machine Operator operates equipment that requires specialized training due to mechanical or technical skills that must be learned. May require significant operator interaction to perform setups, monitor equipment and make decisions that require complex machine adjustments.

Positions available on 2nd and 3rd shift

What You'll Be Doing:

• Must meet all requirements of a GMO
• Perform operations in a safe manner.
• Review equipment at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order.
• Ensure needed materials are ready and notify supervision of shortages.
• Adjust equipment parameters as stated in the router.
• Operate equipment as stated in the router.
• Perform quality checks per control plan.
• Complete hour by hour boards with documentation of issues if goals are not attained and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor equipment to ensure optimum running and notify supervision of any equipment issues.
• Maintain and clean equipment before and after each shift.
• Complete operator specific preventative maintenance procedures.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

The salary for this role begins at $19.93 per hour (plus shift differential if applicable), potentially higher depending on experience and qualifications.

Cardinal Staffing Services is hiring for Press Operators in Sterling Heights, MI. As a Press Operator for Cardinal Staffing Services, you will work in a fast-paced automotive stamping facility in all areas including:

• 1-2 years Metal Stamping Press and Die Setting Experience
• Performing coil changes
• Setting up Peripheral equipment
• Keeping pace with production needs
• Operating 1000 Ton Press Machines
• Willingness to be cross trained on various processes, machines, and products.

Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is required! This position will require candidates to be able to work independently and demonstrate a proactive, problem-solving attitude. Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all plant and corporate safety rules, procedures, and guidelines.
• Report all safety concerns or issues to their immediate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and area by completing daily housekeeping assignments.
• Complete make-ready in accordance with the Job Ticket and Product Specification documents to ensure correct print cylinders, inks, substrates, tooling, and anilox rollers are used.
• Responsible for completing all required quality checks related to product specifications, visual, and functional checks.
• Operate press to produce product in accordance to customer specifications while maintaining quality, waste, and press efficiency.
• Maintain consistent quality during the production run. Critical quality checks including copy, color, and registration, and ink adhesion. Ensure conformance to all other quality checks.
• Responsible for completing all related procedures, work instructions, and quality measurements as outlined in the BRC standard.
• Complete press make readys in an efficient manner.
• Complete all required equipment maintenance duties.
• Clean plate, cylinder, and ink pans, and lubricate press as needed.
• Input all required information into the GlobeTek system for material usage and time in an accurate and prompt manner.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• One to five years as a printing press operator Lithographic experience preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal and external communications to perform job duties.
• Effective interpersonal skills needed.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to determine root cause of problem and determine corrective action.
• Proficient knowledge of production materials, quality methods, and color standards are necessary.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude required.
• Computer prepress/preflight knowledge is preferred. Advanced computer skills needed.
• Must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

Salary, based on experience and other qualifications:

• 1st Shift: $24.30 per hour
• 2nd Shift: $4.30 per hour plus 1.50 shift differential per hour

What You Will Do:

• Monitor and operate all presses, dryers, and control systems
• Monitor and operate flour unloading equipment and flour handling system to ensure delivery of proper ingredients
• Monitor and add other ingredients (i.e., Egg) to the delivery system
• Properly direct finished products to storage silos
• Perform operational adjustments, breakdown and preventive maintenance for the flour handling system, presses, dryers, and related support equipment
• Perform all necessary changeovers and related activities on a timely basis to execute the required production schedule
• Collect all required samples and perform required product analysis (moistures, etc.)
• Complete necessary reporting and maintain required records
• Replace die inserts, as necessary
• Clean mixers daily, and clean thoroughly at shutdowns
• Ensure that work areas are clean and sanitary
• Responsible for the manufacture of safe, quality, and legal product
• Ensure compliance with all safety programs and maintain hazard free work areas
• Work and support all shifts, (including nights and weekends) as required

• High school diploma or GED required
• 1-2 years related experience and/or training in food manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Effective communication skills
• Understand and interpret equipment training manuals and drawings
• Good math skills, including calculating figures and amounts such as efficiency percentages and volume/weights in metric
• Possess a solid mechanical aptitude combined with technical training and/or the equivalent in manufacturing experience (preferably in food manufacturing)
• Creative troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Basic understanding of PLC theory and programming
• Solid working knowledge of:
• Boilers, pumps and circulating systems
• Air Compressors and pneumatic systems
• Pneumatic conveying theory and related systems

• Sets up and operates heavy-duty power press to bend, form, stretch and straighten a number of products such as plates, extrusions, structural shapes, etc as specified by blueprints, layout, and templates.
