As a Produce Team Member, you will play a vital role in ensuring our store's produce department runs smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include receiving and preparing product, maintaining the produce floor and displays, and selling product in support of WFM standards.
You will perform all functions related to breaking down deliveries and stocking shelves. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.

Key Responsibilities:- Ensures a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked by front-facing, checking codes, rotating and removing out-of-date products.
- Assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items.
- Monitors and prevents spoilage and communicates waste to buyers, Team Leaders, and shift supervisor.
- Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
- Assists with periodic inventory checks.
- Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.
- Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.
- Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
- Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.

Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Produce Manager coordinates the activities of employees in the Produce Department engaged in ordering, processing, and selling of products, as well as maintains department standards while under the supervision of the Produce Manager by performing the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned):
- Assumes all responsibilities of the Produce Clerk and Produce Shift Supervisor positions.
- Assists the Produce Manager with the ordering and receiving of products, and proper invoice routing.
- Acts as the Produce Manager on the sales floor when the Produce Manager is unavailable.
- Trains and coaches employees on procedures and tasks for department, on an on-going basis.

Customer Service Skills (15 Second Service policy)
All Assistant Produce Managers are required to acknowledge and/or greet customers within the first 15 seconds of the customer's arrival. Customers are to be greeted and/or acknowledged while waiting at a counter, or as they are passed on the sales floor. The "Seven Points to Extraordinary Service" are to be fully executed by Assistant Produce Managers at all times.
Education and/or Experience

* Conduct the receiving, storing, and merchandising of all Produce products, and follow the pricing schedule as directed by Produce Supervisor.
* Plan and carry out aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales and assists management with cross merchandising ideas with other departments.
* Check invoices for items, costs, shortages and miss picks and call AFS or respective vender for corrections. See that all invoices are dated and signed.
* Oversees, and demonstrates knowledge of and maintains strict adherence to all company and governmental regulatory agency standards and guidelines for the entire Produce Department including but not limited to COOL, acceptable temperature ranges of cases and processing areas.
* Ensures adequate stock by proper ordering so that inventories can be maintained at optimum levels. Pays proper attention to: Effective inventory control to guard against spoilage and outdated product, proper stock rotations, pricing is accurate and legible, and eye-appealing displays that are full and faced.
* Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.

* Promote a high level of morale and respect within department and store, utilizing friendly professional methods of honest and open communication, thereby being a positive example to others.
* Maintain a clean environment inside and outside the department by limiting clutter around cases, keeping display equipment and chrome clean, sweeping back room floor, and keeping refrigeration clean and organized.

- Manage all areas of the Produce Department, consistently leading by example and applying effective management techniques
- Ensure that the Produce Department is always full and fresh with the best quality produce
- Oversee weekly production schedule for fresh and packaged produce
- Maintain department conditions, ensuring shelves are stocked, product is rotated and the department is clean and well organized
- Maintain and update weekly reports (purchasing, sanitation and inventory)
- Order inventory based on reports (shrink, overage, expired, etc.)
- Control shrink by re-purposing of product
