Job Description
As a key stakeholder in the development of innovative products, you will ensure that product development phases throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) process are well defined and organized. You will take ownership of tasks such as creating and structuring Bill of Materials (BOM), writing and tracking Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in Agile, managing BOM changes, and collaborating closely with engineering teams.
Responsibilities

This position is responsible for aftermarket parts sales and profitability (OPACC), New Product Introduction (NPI) support, Intellectual Property (IP) protection, inventory management, Aftermarket Growth Guide (AGG) management, and repair option and services strategies. The Manager Product Lifecycle supports our customers having a great ownership experience by ensuring we have the right service solutions and repair options in the right place at the right time.
**Responsibilities and What you will do:**
+ Manage overall aftermarket strategy for ePowertrain and ePower Source components, ensuring health and profitability (parts growth, inventory, margin optimization, kitting and contributing to parts marketing initiatives).
+ Manage the IP strategy for E+ES with emphasis on managing processes related to invention capture sessions, patent review boards, IP inclusion into NPI, and contract management.
+ Own the execution and strategy for all E+ES Repair Options required for all sales channels (services and retail). This includes analysis related to adding Reman components into Caterpillar's repair options.
+ Own and manage the AGG process to drive sound decisions in the areas of branding, agreements, IP, supply strategy and prognostics. Champion the education of the Product Group regarding the aftermarket.
+ Ensure all NPI programs receive proper Aftermarket coverage within the NPI process. Including parts summits, pricing, proper levels of serviceability, eCommerce and kitting.
+ Work with Prime Product groups to ensure our component strategies align with their aftermarket goals.

The PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) services within New Product Introduction team consist of assignment of internal part numbers and attributes to all items, organizes Bills of Material (BOMs) enabling the Logistics services to export this equipment as parts or as assemblies globally - information about each part number is the key to customs compliance and paying duties. The PLM analyst will also work with Buyer/Planner and PLM roles at different manufacturing vendors, to source materials and to manage Bill of Material (BOM) related tasks. The services described here are for full product life cycles: the new product phase and ongoing life-cycle support. Travel to manufacturing locations may be required from time to time.
This is a hybrid role, and requires 2-3 days in office each week in Palo Alto. **Only local candidates will be considered.**
**Main Responsibilities**
+ PLM Services administration of an Oracle Agile PLM instance for past, present and future related hardware systems.
+ Creating and administering internal Part Numbers, coordinating with engineers and program managers (via bugs and tickets) to structure Engineering and production Bills of Material.
+ Manage all tickets and Engineering Change Orders for parts and bills of material

**Deliverables**
+ Create template BOMs and initial BOMs for new products in sync with the Geo Hardware product lifecycle milestones (a typical pattern of: prototypes, EVT, DVT, PVT, production)
+ Respond to and resolve all Engineering Change Orders, Manufacturer Change Orders, Deviations within 48 business hours
+ Ping past-due task owners within 24 business hours
+ Participate in afternoon meetings with manufacturer counterparts located in East Asian time zones - BOM reviews and review of Change Orders. The contract manufacturer PLM team will have dotted line responsibility to Google's Geo PLM lead.
+ Before all major review milestones ensure compliance of BOMs for AML/AVL information and applicable support documents including, MPN, Specs, RoHS certificates and other applicable attributes.
**Desired Skills & Experience**
+ 2-3 years of experience implementing or supporting Agile PLM

**Hourly Rate and Other Compensation:**
The annual salary for this position is between $75,000 - $86,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

**Brief Description**
Sonix is seeking an experienced Senior Product Lifecycle Engineer who will be responsible for managing the product lifecycle of our scanning acoustic microscope platform from conception to end-of-life. This person will work with our global team to manage the evolution of our product platform and ensure we keep pace with the requirements of our broad customer base.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, product lifecycle management, engineering change management and compliance with industry regulations and standards. Leading projects and RBS initiatives with our commercial, design engineering and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure we have a sustainable and competitive product lineup.
In addition to product lifecycle management the engineer will be responsible for assisting our global service team with sustaining engineering activities to ensure our product meets customer requirements. The engineer will work closely with multiple teams including both internal and external partners.
Position will provide the opportunity for both domestic and international travel to visit customers and vendors to collaborate on managing our product portfolio and gathering valuable feedback.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Leverage strong product lifecycle management skills (sustainability, performance optimization, cost management, risk management, collaboration, and continuous improvement) to manage our product portfolio to ensure smooth transition of new products to the market and coordination between our commercial team, design engineering team, manufacturing team and field service team.
+ Product lifecycle management of released platforms for feature requests, engineering change management, configuration management, compliance with industry standards and regulations, documentation control, non-conformance or waiver approval and end-of-life management.
+ Technical knowledge to be able to understand system level, electrical and mechanical issues reported by the field or operations team and be able to bring relevant information back to the design engineering team as needed.
+ Monitor quality and failure trends for installed systems and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
+ Lead / facilitate RBS initiatives to ensure we have a robust, competitive product platform that meets our customers' needs.
+ Lead / facilitate cross-functional meetings as needed to brainstorm creative solutions, troubleshoot problems and ensure projects are on track.
+ Report project status to management team on a regular basis and identify risks and issues that may impact schedules and suggest countermeasures to ensure project timelines are maintained.
+ Visit customers to gain insight into how our tools are used and learn how they can be improved to meet and exceed customer expectations both now and in the future.
+ Manage system certifications to ensure system is engineered to meet safety guidelines relevant to the market / countries we sell to and conformance to ISO standards.
+ Ensure release and project documentation is current, complete, and located in the proper repository.
+ Train production and field service personnel to ensure support for new product platforms and features.
+ International and domestic travel up to ~25%
**Qualifications:**
+ Minimum 5 years' engineering experience in product lifecycle management and product development.
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
+ Experience in technical project management including maintaining schedules and interfacing with cross-functional team members throughout the project lifecycle
+ Experience with Regulatory Compliance (for example: SEMI, UL, RoHS etc.)
+ Experience working in the semiconductor industry with test and measurement equipment a strong plus
+ Experience designing equipment to work in a cleanroom environment a strong plus
