Production Lead

Pay: $33.49 per hour

Hiring Bonus: $00 bonus after completing 30-day period. 500 bonus after completing 6 months of employment. Total of 1,000 bonus

Shift & Working Hours: 2nd Shift - Monday-Friday; 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM. Weekends/Overtime/Holidays as needed, hours subject to business needs.

The Lead will assist the Production Supervisor with the daily operating functions in the Kitchen and Pack Lines. The Lead will have delegated responsibility for line operations. Lead will direct the line associates and Operators of operational responsibilities. The Lead will review the Production Schedule and Work Orders to ensure the product meets specified line requirements. The Line Associates and Operators will be monitored by Lead to ensure Quality, GMP, Safety, Production, Training and Housekeeping requirements are being met. The Lead will conform to the required GMP and Safety procedures, follow all verbal and/or written instructions of the Land O Lakes policies, Operations, direct shift Supervisor, Quality Control and Management staff.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct a walkthrough of your area of operation to make sure the equipment is operational and you are staffed correctly.


* Communicate with out-going shift Leads as to Work Order completions and equipment operational status.


* Report all non-conforming discrepancies to Operations Supervisor, QC and Management in a timely manner.


* Communicate the daily Pass down to line associates


* Comply with all GMP, personal protective clothing, hair covering and hearing protection policies


* Control all Breaks and Lunch periods so that all Operators and Line associates met their Ca. Meal rest period requirements.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Traits:

* Follow instructions and support Production Supervisor as required, take responsibility for personnel, leadership skills are required to communicate and complete daily tasks, decision making and justification of those actions, Good strong Safety/GMP reinforcement skills. Forklift or Pallet Jack Certified


* Must understand Microsoft applications related to work. This includes Teams, Zoom, Excel, Word platforms.


* Ability to guide and assist employees with Workday and how to navigate through PTO process


* Lead and speak in group settings, this includes State of the Plants, Production meetings and support group meetings.


* Play a key role in support committees, this includes Safety, Quality and PIT teams.


* Maybe required to participate in further advancement trainings that are offsite and can lead to stay nights outside of work.


* Understand and help develop their own advancement, this includes taking classes in Degreed

* 3+ years of food manufacturing experience


* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience:

* 2+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing


* High School diploma/GED preferred.

Purpose of Role

The Team Lead will set up and manage the production line effectively utilizing materials, staff and order information. They will train employees in the appropriate process and procedures to complete each step in their department. The Team Lead will explain safety and quality requirements and motivate staff to perform efficiently. Prompt and regular attendance is crucial for the Team Lead position. An employee in this position must be knowledgeable of Quaker's materials, products and systems, and must be a leader of open book management. They must be good communicators and approachable to successfully lead staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Set up and manage the production line for each daily schedule
* Order material including glass, order repairs and view Bill of Materials
* Track orders and replacement orders, manage backlog, communicate priorities and how repairs are handled
* Plan ahead, know what job is coming up next and have materials ready
* Understand operation of all necessary tools and machinery in the department and initiate a resolution any equipment issues that arise
* Indirect supervision of all production staff in the department, support employee engagement
* Lead and motivate a team to meet production goals, utilize the Training & Communication Boards
* Ensure staff including transfer staff are properly trained to meet the quality expectations for the department, cross-train staff or have them cross-trained when they are ready to learn more, and ensure New Hire Progress Reports are completed for new hires
* Meet the daily production number goal and prepare for upcoming load dates, understand order priority & manage backlog
* Be responsible for the quality and on-time delivery of all orders & communicate quality results to all production line staff
* Communicate needs from Production Supervisor to department staff, also communicate with supplier departments, Shipping and the next shift if applicable, appropriately follow-up when necessary
* Know the Standard Operating Procedures for products made in the department, be able to problem solve when issues arise
* Be responsible for ensuring the production line staff follow all safety regulations & guidelines, submit Accident Reporting and documentation when necessary
* Identify Safety expectations for the team and the monthly Safety Goals, prepare for Safety Audits
* Ensure Cycle Counts are completed timely to support accurate inventory, resolve variances
* Research and gather an understanding of the department finances, communicate costs to the team to build financial awareness
* Hold daily huddles with staff to communicate important information, including financials, forecasting and Key Performance Indicators
* Use Lean Six Sigma strategies to eliminate or minimize waste and improve efficiencies
* Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
* Interact and communicate with employees and internal customers in an appropriate manner.
* Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
* Communicate via email and prepare reports.
* Review and analyze data and information concerning quality results and safety audits.
* Plan, prioritize and monitor production department activities.
* Oversee the completion of assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Team Lead position has indirect leadership and supervisory responsibilities including assisting with assigning and checking the work of others. The position will also monitor staff performance and employee retention. The individual will train employees, provide performance feedback and assist in completing any correction or discipline necessary. Additionally, the Team Lead will assist in determining means, methods and materials for performing work.

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow any job-specific or department-specific safety requirements such as Safe Product Handling Guidelines, Basic Tool Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Safe Pallet Jack Operation and Safe Lift.

Travel

Minimal travel is required for professional development, visits to job sites or to backup similar positions on other campuses.

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Evening or weekend work will be required when the workload demands.
