A large company has an opening for a Quality Inspector who can use basic standard inspection tools to check specific parts used in a variety of industries. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A Quality Control Inspector is responsible for making sure that products meet a set of standards. Reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Inspects and approves 1st article. • Director will report directly to the VP of Quality Control
• The role will be based out of Cleveland, Westerville, or Mansfield Ohio
• Frequent travel is required to the various labs and plant locations, with overnight stays if necessary.

• Lead Quality Control on production initiatives and safety goals that meet the overall goals of KMI
• Visit facilities/labs and help build, observe, and communicate our Safety 24/7 culture
• Review all GL's, near hits or incidents investigations to ensure they are complete
• Work with mix design labs to make sure mixes are to customer specifications.
• Work with sales to make sure mixes are available and updated in our system
• Help QC team members at the labs when issues arise 24/7 - i.e. aggregate issues, mix issues, density lay down issues and scheduling conflicts
• Work with ODOT/OTIC/FAA and commercial customers on material issues or questions
• Support the Lead & Field Supervisors daily review of QC tests to verify completion and that all required information is accurately documented and reported to the project owner
• Maintain current knowledge of aggregate, paving, and asphalt plant processes
• Evaluate and reviews current DOT specifications and communicate to the team of any changes
• Attend daily scheduling meetings and resolve any production/QC conflicts

• Attend scheduling meetings every two weeks and address any quality control concerns
• Attend monthly safety team meetings and weekly safety calls

• Prepare the Quality Control Plan
• Lead performance reviews of the Quality Control team
• Prepare annual capital expenditure forecasts (Cap EX) for the VP
• Help coordinate and lead annual training for quality control and plant managers.

• Report all issues to the VP of Quality Control
• Be available all hours to support and facilitate the success of the team, particularly during the construction season
• Work closely with HR when personnel issues arise
• Help support the job posting and interviewing process
• Attend industry meeting and serve on the technical committee

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Understanding of ODOT Specifications
• 5+ years of related/applicable experience in quality control is required
• Demonstrated history of operations leadership in a construction-related setting is required
• ODOT Asphalt Concrete Technician Level 3, or equivalent from another state DOT

The Inbound Quality Control (QC) Inspector safeguards product quality and customer satisfaction by performing detailed inspections of incoming products in alignment with corporate specifications. This includes assessing assembly integrity, packaging compliance, and overall product condition. Inspectors gather inspection data, capture photographs, document results, and communicate findings to the appropriate stakeholders. While QC provides detailed inspection findings and recommendations, final product disposition decisions (e.g., acceptance, rejection, or rework approval) are made by the Quality Assurance (QA) team in accordance with corporate quality standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough inspections of various styles of furniture and accessories to verify compliance with corporate specifications, aesthetic standards, and functional requirements.
• Reject or hold items that fail to meet specifications and cannot be brought into compliance through approved repair or touch-up methods.
• Document recurring quality issues by supplier, product category, or SKU, utilizing standardized incident reporting forms.
• Accurately capture inspection data, photographs, and detailed notes to ensure traceability and effective root cause analysis.
• Provide inspection results and recommendations to QA, recognizing that final product disposition and approval decisions fall within QA's authority.
• Prepare inspected items for safe movement and storage, ensuring packaging integrity to prevent damage during internal handling and downstream processes.
• Adhere to established QC procedures, safety standards, and Supply Chain attendance/timekeeping policies.
• Execute inspection workflows under the direction of Inspector Leads or Supervisors to meet daily operational timelines and throughput goals.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during inspection activities.
• Perform repetitive motions as part of the inspection process.
• Safely move, lift, or maneuver furniture and accessories - often exceeding 175 lbs. - using approved team lift techniques, dollies, pallet jacks, or other mechanical aids.
• Maintain consistent and punctual attendance

• Inspection Throughput Inspect a minimum of 2 SKUs per day, maintaining quality standards.
• Inspection Accuracy No more than 2 mistakes per 100 items inspected. Clearly describe defects in reports so QA can take the right action.
• Defect Notification & Trend Reporting Notify QA immediately when a defect is found, following the established SOP. For recurring issues (same supplier/product/problem), ensure full documentation and reporting to QA within 48 hours of detection.
• Reporting Timeliness:
• Failed inspection reports: distribute within 24 hours.
• Pass with condition reports: distribute within 48 hours.
• Passed inspection reports: distribute within 72 hours.
• Compliance Adhere to 100% of established QC procedures, safety standards, and attendance policies.
• Collaboration Maintain effective communication and collaboration with QA, Sourcing, and PD teams on all escalated issues.

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1 - 2 years of quality control, inspection, or warehouse operations preferred.
• Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and digital photo documentation tools. Familiarity with warehousing and distribution practices, including order picking, packing, and shipping procedures.
• Flexibility: Willingness to adjust schedule/hours to support departmental needs.
