**Opportunity**
Responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising activities of the Iron Foundry - Induction Melting Department and all supporting functions as necessary to provide the required amount of melted iron of correct temperature and composition as noted in iron specifications.
**Specific Responsibilities**
+ Read prints and update and maintain prints for refractory work and mechanical equipment.
+ Maintain inventories of purchased melt materials including steel, cast, and shredded.
+ Change charge based on revert inventory and charge material cost. Record all changes.
+ Inspect incoming raw materials and determine disposition of defective material and issue SDMR
+ Select and maintain refractory inventory.
+ Responsible for daily furnace repair schedules.
+ Maintain performance records for ladles, furnaces, launders, HMC ladles and schedule repairs to maintain adequate supply.
+ Schedule melt furnaces for ductile iron production based on electrical reading.
+ Monitor channel furnace reactance and shell temperature and schedule repairs as needed (hot gunning repairs).
+ Maintain auto-pour and make repairs between major rebuilds and supply stopper rods for production.
+ Troubleshoot refractory problems and recommend changes. Stay current with refractory technology and maintain contact with refractory vendors.
+ Adjust and maintain Melt lab (CE) computer program.
+ Responsible for communicating production run times and iron schedules.
+ Monitor and react to ductile iron process.
+ Maintain and update CC (contract casting) computer program. Keep Contract Casting computer program current. Make changes to the program to fit quality and production requirements.
+ Schedule manpower to meet production requirements considering vacation and absenteeism.
+ Coordinate manpower with first and second shift to insure adequate staffing to meet production schedules.
**Skills/Requirements**
+ Foundry furnace and ladle refractories experience is preferred.
+ The ability to troubleshoot refractory problems and recommend changes is preferred.
+ The ability to respond to emergencies is also required.
+ The ability to read and update prints, basic computer skills with the ability to understand/learn new programs required.
+ Previous supervisory experience preferred.
+ A minimum of an associate's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent work experience.

Job Summary:

This position is an advanced-level position within the manufacturing area, primarily responsible for performing material handling utilizing forklift, weigh-up, and/or packaging duties within the production department. Ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost and meets customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Spartech policies and procedures. Concurrent with performing these duties, the Production Operator will be expected to progress through our operator training program. The operator positions include extrusion production line and/or automated material handling and Banbury mixer operation.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Accomplish the duties of the job utilizing safe work habits and maintaining a safe workplace
  • Required to assist operator in unloading winder
  • Required to assist operator during change over’s
  • Required to inspect finished rolls, vacuum if dust is visible and inspect each roll for non-conforming characteristics (i.e., angel hair, loose rolls, roll weave or bad cuts)
  • Must be able to read and understand shop orders
  • Communicate with operator and shift lead
  • Perform cleaning task of equipment and plant
  • Stage rolls and other packaging items needed for production
  • Maintain inventory moves into the MIS in an accurate and timely manner
  • Remove roll, weigh, and properly package material from the winder/stacker and move to the designated area in the warehouse
  • Record daily total down time with reason codes
  • Operate forklifts as required (Change gas cylinders and/or do general maintenance as required)
  • Must be able to work a full schedule workweek and fulfill overtime requirements as needed
  • Perform SQC and quality testing, also responsible to cross check all paperwork and material labeling
  • Cut cores/ cardboard per size stated on work order
  • Receive any additional direction from operator
  • Competency in plant operator positions.

  • May be required to train other employees
  • Active participant in Kaizen and lean events

In Manitowoc we heavily support automotive customers with flexible sound barrier and non-carpet flooring sheet. Our sound barrier product also is used in building and construction and energy markets for sound control applications. We are currently looking for Production Operators to join our production team to support our variety of customers. Job Summary:

This position is an advanced-level position within the manufacturing area, primarily responsible for performing material handling utilizing forklift, weigh-up, and/or packaging duties within the production department. Ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost and meets customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Spartech policies and procedures. Concurrent with performing these duties, the Production Operator will be expected to progress through our operator training program. The operator positions include extrusion production line and/or automated material handling and Banbury mixer operation.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Accomplish the duties of the job utilizing safe work habits and maintaining a safe workplace
  • Required to assist operator in unloading winder
  • Required to assist operator during change over’s
  • Required to inspect finished rolls, vacuum if dust is visible and inspect each roll for non-conforming characteristics (i.e., angel hair, loose rolls, roll weave or bad cuts)
  • Must be able to read and understand shop orders
  • Communicate with operator and shift lead
  • Perform cleaning task of equipment and plant
  • Stage rolls and other packaging items needed for production
  • Maintain inventory moves into the MIS in an accurate and timely manner
  • Remove roll, weigh, and properly package material from the winder/stacker and move to the designated area in the warehouse
  • Record daily total down time with reason codes
  • Operate forklifts as required (Change gas cylinders and/or do general maintenance as required)
  • Must be able to work a full schedule workweek and fulfill overtime requirements as needed
  • Perform SQC and quality testing, also responsible to cross check all paperwork and material labeling
  • Cut cores/ cardboard per size stated on work order
  • Receive any additional direction from operator
  • Competency in plant operator positions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May be required to train other employees
  • Active participant in Kaizen and lean events

The Floater Operator focuses on setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing production (i.e., machining, processing, assembly, transporting, packaging, or blending) equipment including:

Operating machine tool, assembly, forklifts, or blending equipment to manufacture products according to production specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards.

Moving, blending, packaging, sorting, and shipping raw materials.

Moving, blending, packaging, sorting, and shipping finished materials.

Monitoring the quality of output to identify, discard, or re-manufacture faulty products.

Maintaining accurate daily production records as input to manufacturing performance analysis and examines production materials for processing.

Operates all equipment and processes.
