Position Overview:

As a Production Technician, you're a member of a production crew, reporting to a supervisor of an assigned production area. You will contribute to the success of Ball by observing operating principles of all assigned equipment and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for your area of responsibility.

The Pittston plant is high-volume, fast-paced 24/7-365 days/year manufacturing environment. Our crews work 12 ¼ -hour shifts (5:45am-6pm/5:45pm-6am) working 3 days on/3 days off and rotating from day to night shift every 6 weeks.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Follow all 5S standards and job safety practices and policies including but not limited to food safety; personal protective equipment; emergency procedures, etc.
  • Operate, adjust, and repair high-speed production equipment to meet plant production goals.
  • Assist with performing preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Inspect aluminium for proper quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Build positive relationships across designated team by effectively collaborating, communicating, and upholding ethical integrity.
Required Experience and Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required
  • 2-year minimum experience in a mechanical job-related field with demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.

Primary Responsibilities

· Adhere to safety and risk management guidelines at all times.

Position Requirements

Place soiled garments/products into push carts (or other designated material handling equipment) for delivery to wash and dry aisle.
**Dry Fold:**
Take clean product (gowns, aprons, towels, etc.) from basket, inspect product quality and place product into folding machine Feed clean towels into bagging machine; inspecting product quality prior to feeding into bagging machine. Hand sort, inspect and fold clean product. Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify engineering of any malfunctions.
**Garments:**
Place garments in proper areas for steam tunnel, iron or finishing. Place garments on hangers and hang on conveyor for steam tunnel processing. Iron press applicable products and transfer finished products to Bundling. Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify engineering of any malfunctions.
**Bundling:**
Bundle garments/product in a logical and coherent manner to ensure proper delivery to customer(s). Verify or count finished products to determine if product bundles or orders are complete. Load cleaned garments/product onto distribution trucks or other like material handling equipment for proper customer delivery.
**Sort/Distribution:**
Becomes familiar with the garment numbering system (GID) and shipping schedule board; Follows a shipping schedule and knows the initial step to separate garments into routes for specific sort area (first, second, or third); Removes garments from supply rail, places on the appropriate conveyor or placard hook by route (first sort), by last man numbered (second sort), or by customer number (third sort); Hangs all shirts of the same route then hangs all pants before proceeding to the next batch/bar;

Job Description

Production Technician

Western International Gas & Cylinders, a leading wholesale supplier of acetylene, seeks a Production Technician for our Berwick facility. The Technician is responsible for safely handling customers' cylinders in compliance with standard operating procedures. Training is provided to ensure complete understanding of position and department responsibilities.

Western International offers:

Qualifications:

  • Strong level of attention to detail
  • Ability to read and comprehend
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to read and write and perform mathematical exercises
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities
  • Must be able to roll or lift 75 lbs. cylinders
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work extended shifts and/or weekends
