Career Opportunity:
The Converting Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and efficient production operations within the Converting department of the Richmond, VA facility. In this role you will communicate performance expectations to ensure production targets and metrics are met, achieve production demands, supervise machine productivity and quality, as well as supervising, coaching, and mentoring of team members.
This position is located at the Richmond, VA Corrugated Container facility and will work the following shift:

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
* Manage manufacturing employees to include performance reviews and disciplinary actions
* Make recommendations to improve safety, environmental and health of the entire facility
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the shift with constant emphasis on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
* Monitor production activities to eliminate waste and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedule
* Work with other team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses

POSITION SUMMARY

The General Production role will perform secondary/value added operations on aluminum castings, such as: trim, inspect, deburr, pack and/or machine casting in a synchronous manufacturing environment. Cross training in all operations while meeting production, safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operate trim press, sand, drill, file and/or knife castings as required.
  • Operate CNC’s, multiple station machine centers, drill press etc.
  • Perform quality checks and document (where applicable). Which include using simple gages, precision measuring devices and visual inspection.
  • Perform safety checks to ensure safety devices are on and in working order (guarding and all safety equipment), including an understanding of the Lock-Out Tag Out procedure.
  • Manually handle parts from work-in-process containers to shipping containers. Move containers as required using pallet jacks, walkie etc.
  • Pack parts properly per operator instructions and apply proper labeling to meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records (route sheets and count sheets).
  • Read and follow operator and set up. Advise supervisor when updates or corrections need to be done to operator and set up instruction books.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Position is in a heavy production environment with high levels of noise and heat. Exposure to moving machine components while troubleshooting die cast machines or secondary operations. Working hours are minimum of 40 hours per week with some overtime during the week and weekends may be expected.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical exertion required with occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Prolonged periods working on your feet wearing steel-toed shoes, using tools, performing repetitive tasks that entail frequent bending, lifting, reaching and twisting. Must have visual acuity for quality inspection of parts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, or equivalent preferred. Basic reading and math skills required.
  • Adaptability by being able to adjust to different tasks and priorities as needed
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member.

Position Overview:
The Production Technician is responsible for all aspects of plant processing from post-crop harvest through packaging and labeling of the final product ready for customer sale as outlined by the management team and SOPs. Major Areas of Responsibility include:
•Assists in the post-harvest plant processing of cannabis.

•Transport harvested plants to drying room and hang to be dried.

  • Avg OT Earnings: $,477.83/month

  • You will receive the opportunity to complete additional job training to increase your base hourly wage.
  • Incentive bonus based on plant performance, 0% to 25%, paid monthly.
  • Successful completion of our probationary period will open the door to seven different roles inside our extrusion department. Hourly pay rates range from 23.25 to 26.19

What you will be working on with Team Kaiser Aluminum - Bellwood
  • The Production Technician is responsible for operating equipment associated with the processes of extrusion, drawn tube operations, and handling of aluminum products. The Production Technician must meet these responsibilities while following job safe practices, standard operating procedures, plant rules, policies and procedures, and meeting quality requirements.
What you will bring to the role:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post high school education a plus
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Experience operating industrial equipment strongly preferred
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment and on problem solving activities
  • Must be able to work all shifts
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in hot conditions
  • Must be able to meet the rigors of industrial work environment
