**Overview**
Stryten Energy in Manchester, IA is currently looking for qualified candidates to fill Production Operator positions in our production departments. Successful candidates must have mechanical ability and accurate math and measurement skills. You should be able to control output of various machines in order to produce quality parts that are within required specifications. You need to meet or exceed production quantity goals set forth each day. And, candidates should have the ability to work in a team based manufacturing environment.
**Shifts Available: 2nd Shift**
**Starting pay rate = $24.50 per hour**

**Responsibilities**
+ Work with the line team to meet the daily production.
+ Will be required to do first piece inspection during the 1st hour of the day at their assigned station.
+ Meet daily production schedule.
+ Fill out necessary documentation
+ Must be able to understand and communicate with all employees to receive training instruction and perform responsibilities.
+ Must learn to follow quality control specs and procedures. Maintain accurate and timely SPC charts.
+ Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
+ Perform testing as required.
+ Perform weekly preventive maintenance on machine
+ Will be exposed to lead (dust, fumes, and molten form) and other hazards.
+ Must comply with safety and health regulations for the protection of self and co-workers.
+ Follow Excel lean Manufacturing Procedures.
+ Must comply with current Quality Systems Requirements
+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.
**Qualifications**
Physical Requirements:
+ Continuous standing, lifting, bending, and twisting
+ Occasionally required to work in extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)
+ Must wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, and steel toed shoes, hearing protection, etc., as outlined in established department PPE policy.
+ Must be able to do some heavy lifting.
Equipment Used:
+ Small hand tools, control panels, data collection equipment.
+ Molds for heat seal machine and small hand tools, control panels, data collection equipment.
Education, Experience, Skills Required:
+ Mechanical aptitude required.
+ Previous manufacturing experience helpful.
+ Computer literate.
+ Must achieve passing score on pre-employment assessment
+ GED or High School Diploma preferred but not required.

The Dubuque facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has an opening for a production operator. Applicants with manufacturing and forklift truck experience are highly desirable.

Job Duties:

  • Operate food processing/production or packaging equipment in the gelatin plant, to manufacture products according to production and quality standards.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP's) as instructed.
  • Respond to process upsets and alarms appropriately.
  • Monitor and document the quality of outputs.
  • Follows all food safety procedures and practices to promote our food safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate daily production records.
  • Perform routine cleaning.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Food Manufacturing experience.
  • Fork truck license or ability to learn how to drive a fork truck.

Expected Hours of Work:

The Progressive Processing, LLC, facility in Dubuque, Iowa, will be hiring hourly production associates for 1st shift. Progressive Processing, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hormel Foods.
The plant was the first new production facility built by Hormel Foods in more than 25 years. Operations began in January of 2010. The 342,000 sq. ft. plant is home to a variety of Hormel products including bacon toppings, SPAM®, and a variety of Hormel® Compleats® microwave meals. The facility employs approximately 325 employees.
Production associates will be responsible for operation of equipment while adhering to food safety and employee safety guidelines.

**Job Purpose:** To gain real world experience in the successful manufacturing of food products
**Responsibilities:**
+ Gain exposure to the job responsibilities of a full-time Team Leader
+ Review production processes against the current Process Specification Summary
+ Assist Team Leaders with information gathering to optimize performance
+ Document job descriptions for key positions, identifying major accountabilities
