  • Visual Analytics: Extraction and preparation of data to be processed using data mining techniques and tools, statistics (Data Engineering). Design and construction of infrastructures for massive and secure data processing (Data Architecture).
  • Industry: Healthcare Teaching and research experience, plus industry liaison of more than 3 years in environmental improvement and in the management and development of sanitary management projects (drinking water, wastewater and solid waste).

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Candidates must be ABO Certified or eligible. While both tenure and clinician-educator track faculty conduct methodological and collaborative research, tenure track faculty focus primarily on independent, investigator driven research while clinician-educator track faculty focus primarily on collaboration.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include patient care dedicated to the candidates ophthalmic specialty.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include the establishment of basic, clinical and/or translational research with potential for K12 funding.
The NIH K12 grant, which has been awarded to Penn's Department of Ophthalmology, enables Department selected Scholars to devote 75% of their effort to research. It also provides mentoring and other research resources with the goal of having the Scholar transition to an individual NIH K award (K08 or K23) within three years and an R01within 6 years. The Scheie research program focuses on mechanisms of ocular aging and cellular rejuvenation, although other areas of research are also of interest. Penn's Department of Ophthalmology K12 Program is located in one of NEI's top-funded Departments. The program has been running for 17 years and has facilitated the careers of numerous academic faculty, many of whom have stayed at Scheie after completing the program. The candidate must be interested in becoming Scientist-Clinicians, planning to devote 75% or more of their time to research throughout their careers.

The Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University ( ) and the Arc Institute ( ) invite applications for a faculty position at the ranks of tenured Associate or Full Professor in the University Tenure Line.
This is a coordinated search between Stanford and the Arc Institute. The Arc Institute is a nonprofit research organization founded on the belief that many important scientific programs can be enabled by new organizational models. Arc operates in partnership with Stanford University, UCSF, and UC Berkeley, and fully funds its Core Investigators with renewable, eight-year appointments to provide complete freedom to pursue curiosity-driven research agendas at its new research facilities. Arc Institute Core Investigators have their lab space located at Arc Headquarters in the Stanford Research Park in Palo Alto, California.
For this joint appointment, Bioengineering and Arc are conducting independent search processes and candidates will be evaluated and selected by both committees. Together, the Arc Institute and Stanford Bioengineering particularly encourage candidates with a strong track-record of exceptional contributions in the development, translation, and application of innovative concepts, tools, or methodologies in bioengineering. This search has a particular focus in immunology, neuroscience, and/or computational science/machine learning. That said, we give high priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work, and encourage applications from individuals representing disciplines or opportunities that are not yet well-established within bioengineering, broadly defined. In addition to their scholarly research, the successful candidate will be expected to train the next generation of biomedical revolutionaries in their area.
Applicants should possess an earned Ph.D., D.Sc., and/or M.D. and have demonstrated the ability to pursue an independent research program. A strong commitment to both graduate and undergraduate teaching is required, as well as the ability to initiate and conduct research across disciplines. A successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and to build and lead a team of graduate students in Ph.D. research. Ideal candidates should also demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills, as well as an ability to contribute actively to a rapidly growing Stanford Department. Faculty rank at Stanford will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. The successful applicants will be board certified in Neurology. Additional fellowship training in neuro-otology, behavioral neurology, neuromuscular diseases, or headache medicine is helpful, but not required.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students and residents in the outpatient clinic and instructing clinical fellows in allied specialties such as ENT, pain management, internal medicine, and family medicine. The candidate will help identify and schedule appropriate speakers and topics for the weekly general neurology group case conference and for the resident lecture series and assist with the virtual "Case of the Month" series. Opportunities to teach in the preclinical Brain and Behavior course also are provided.
Clinical responsibilities may include personal clinics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Pennsylvania Hospital, and/or Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and other affiliated institutional sites as well as attending responsibilities for resident clinics at HUP. Depending on a candidate's interest and expertise, opportunities exist for the development of specialized clinics focusing on the areas of headache medicine, women's neurology, spinal conditions, neuro-otology, complications of cancer and cancer therapies, and somatic symptom disorder, among others. However, the bulk of clinical time will be spent in general neurology clinics. Participation in clinical trial recruitment, CME activities, and quality improvement initiatives is welcome.
The General Neurology Division of the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is expanding its services to enhance access for patients to our large regional referral practice. We seek neurologists with broad clinical skills who are interested in an academic practice combining clinical excellence in diagnosis of a broad range of challenging neurological conditions with core teaching responsibilities in the residents' ambulatory practice and other venues. Successful candidates will also have opportunities for teaching in Penn's preclinical curriculum, in outpatient conferences and in CME courses. We offer the possibility of developing components of specialty interests depending on the candidates' background in such areas as headache, neuromuscular medicine, and neuro-otology. Candidates would also participate in divisional conferences of the specialties for which they are qualified.

The Division of Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Teaching responsibilities may include training resident and fellows in addition to precepting medical students and other trainees in the field of Sleep Medicine. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching.
Clinical responsibilities may include performing comprehensive evaluations and management of patients with sleep disorders; interpreting polysomnograms, multiple sleep latency test, and home sleep apnea test; attending in the sleep disorders clinic and sleep telemedicine program. Clinical responsibilities will be at the primary outpatient site of the Sleep Division at the University of Pennsylvania as well as one of the suburban sites.
