Summit is the busiest level 3 trauma hospital in Tennessee. In this position you will be working in a 25 bed Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit that primarily cares for patients with chest pain waiting for stress testing, cath labs, hypertensive urgency, CVA, TIA, altered mental status, sepsis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous BiPAP. Drips such as cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, protonix, and others.
There are unlimited growth opportunities at HCA! This position will provide a great pathway for nurses that are interested in growing into an ICU position. As well as becoming a Charge Nurse, Preceptor, being part of a Unit Based Council, and growing into a Leadership role.

Job Summary and Qualifications
Progressive Care Nurse
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.
What you will do in this role:
Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
What qualifications you will need:
RN licensure by Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state.
Associate's degree; Bachelor's degree is preferred
BLS required, and must be obtained within 30 days of employment
At least one-year clinical nursing preferred
ACLS with 30 days of hire
NIHSS Stroke Certification within 30 days of hire

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Progressive Care Nurse Manager ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the PCU. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.
What you will do in this role:
+ Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
+ Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
+ Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
+ Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check list.
+ Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
+ Manage and coordinates all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
+ Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
+ Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
+ Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
+ Bachelor's Degree required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
+ Master's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
+ Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Kentucky or compact state required
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) required
+ 1 Year of RN experience required
