Description
- Provide limited, high level, production supervision as necessary for work involving a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
- Assist Project Manager with all aspects of multiple small to large-scale projects.
- Coordinate all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
- Serve as primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client's satisfaction.
- Actively manage client budgets, schedules, and programs, project communications and documentation, office administrative tasks, and project team assignments.
- Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals.
- Supervise the preparation and check the accuracy of contract documents.
- Incorporate applicable codes, construction techniques, and sequences in various projects including all aspects of cross disciplines.
- Supervise and/or perform site observations, such as recording and reporting of existing conditions and construction progress.
- Handle problems and questions as they occur during construction. Maintain responsibility for project cost control.
- Responsible for external communications such as making telephone calls and preparing correspondence to clients, officials, and contractors as required by various projects.
- Write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
- Supervise and perform building code reviews and prepare applications.
- Responsible for major design decisions, involving spatial, aesthetic elements, and detailing of materials.
- Document the progression of a routine project through correspondence, memos, etc. Follow routine projects through approvals and construction. Initiate contact with client and town officials.
- Exercise professional judgment in areas of contractual liability.
- Make public presentations.

**General Summary:**
The Project Architect directs and is responsible for the development of the design work; leads in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinates the related work of the other disciplines; and assumes in-house construction administration duties on projects of moderate to large size and complexity.

+ Assist the Project Manager in adhering to the project schedule and budget identifying changes to the scope of the work, and related repercussions on project schedule and budget. Provide resource/budget forecasting upon request.
+ Advise the Manager of Architecture in the staffing requirements for projects.
+ Initiate and orchestrate the work of the entire project team (the various engineering and interiors disciplines, and other consultants), and facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members; assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines, documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.
+ Responsible for the management of the production of construction documents.
+ Prepare written portion of addenda and bulletins relating to architectural work.
+ Perform all in-house construction administration duties: respond to RFI's, review and approve shop drawings, issue bulletins, etc.; provide field-representation services (at the request of the Project Manager or when deemed critical).
+ Possess/demonstrates thorough knowledge of company standards. Help maintain and improve office architectural standards, details and production tools.
+ Familiar with Revit model creation in accordance with company standards.

**Employment Qualifications:**

  • Proficient knowledge of building science, sustainable technologies, construction methods, building code, and zoning principles

As a member of our design team, you will be responsible for:  

  • Serving as the primary client contact for projects 
  • Directing the project team and consultants for projects throughout all phases of design 
  • Preparing strategic plans for project success 
  • Coordinating the efforts of your project team  
  • Management of a collaborative, integrated team structure for all phases of work 
  • Leading and managing the production team in the completion of one or more projects simultaneously

JOB SUMMARY:

MSKTD & Associates is seeking a passionate registered architect to join our team as a Project Architect/Manager to join our Healthcare team. While our Healthcare Design Studio’s home base is in Indianapolis, you’ll work seamlessly with that team from our Fort Wayne office, serving as a vital bridge between local clients, the broader project team, and the resources of our Indianapolis‑based specialists. The ideal candidate will take the lead in all phases of a project from beginning to end. If you are enthusiastic about architecture and have significant experience designing healing environments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work with a team that includes architects, engineers, interior designers, and other disciplines to plan and design a range of small- to large-scale projects with various complexities to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Meet with clients and user groups to create architectural programming that defines the scope of work and to develop preliminary project concepts.
  • Manage all phases of the design process to ensure successful delivery, which includes, (but not limited to):

- developing and presenting design ideas and planning concepts to clients

- coordinating design and document preparation across disciplines

- recommending timely design adjustments to improve quality and maintain goals and objectives

- preparing design and presentation drawings for client/project team review

- incorporating sustainable design solutions into projects

- understanding and integrating codes and standards

- preparing and coordinating meeting documentation for client and consultant meetings.

- develop and manage project budgets and timelines.


  • Provide primary oversight for construction administration by leading day-to-day activities, including coordination with the client, consultants and contractor(s) to maintain project progress and attending on-site visits, as well as other field review and project meetings.
  • Support, oversee, and evaluate work of the team, including mentoring, providing oversight and monitoring work from others and establishing and executing project work plans and staffing requirements.

 SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in business development efforts, including occasional time outside of normal business hours to understand market trends, foster client relationships, maintain an active role in professional organizations, and supporting proposal development and interviews.
  • Suggest process improvements for the Studio.
  • Continue your professional growth through seminars and participation in professional organizations.
  • Assist in corporate engagement objectives, including community involvement, by promoting MSKTD’s reputation through good client relations and communications and fostering commitment to external and internal client service.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational Background: Accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
  • Professional Licensure: Licensed Architect (Indiana) with current registration.
  • Experience:  5-15 years of professional experience. 3 years minimum related to Healthcare
