What You'll Be Doing:

Under the direction of the Principal and project supervisor, the engineer plans and performs engineering analyses of structures, systems, and components for extreme events (e.g. earthquakes, wind, explosions, and impact loads) and unconventional requirements (e.g. innovative materials/construction, resilience, business interruption, rapid deployment, monitoring, etc.). Responsibilities include:
  • Work on routine problems independently and on project teams.
  • Perform field walkdown assessments of power generation, national defense, industrial, and petrochemical facilities.
  • Develop finite element models of structures using commercially available software and perform linear and nonlinear structural analyses using these models.
  • Perform seismic soil-structure interaction analyses of building structures.
  • Prepare calculations and reports documenting engineering analyses.
  • Review work by analysts, technicians, draftsmen, and others assisting the project team.
  • Assist in preparation of proposals, letters, reports, calculations, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
What You'll Need:
  • 0 - 2 years of professional experience in structural engineering or engineering mechanics
  • Master of Science, Master of Engineering, or Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or similar field.
  • Education must have an emphasis on structural analysis, structural dynamics, and/or engineering mechanics.
  • Strong background in structural analysis, structural dynamics, structural design, and engineering mechanics is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of probabilistic concepts such as risk and reliability, uncertainty quantification, random vibrations, and/or stochastic processes.
  • Familiarity with commercial finite element analysis computer programs such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, and/or SAP2000.
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration within five years.

The Position

The Metallurgist will perform a range of duties related to the evaluation, testing, and analysis of construction materials, particularly metals and alloys used in structural components. Depending on the assignment, responsibilities may include:

**Overview**
The Project Consultant, Furniture is responsible for all activities of special order furniture installation projects to ensure the objectives of each project are accomplished as defined by the customer's requirements and job standards. This position serves as the single-point-of-contact for special order furniture-related installation activities and will primarily focus on large complex projects. The Project Consultant, Furniture is responsible for projects that require significant coordination, high-profile projects where performance can dramatically impact future opportunities; or other factors deemed necessary to require dedicated project management.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Act as point-of-contact throughout project process. Align appropriate internal and/or subcontracted resources to accomplish the work. Schedule and coordinate all installation activities with sub-contractors and building resources. Review furniture installation plans with each contractor. Interface with appropriate parties to monitor product orders and schedule teardown of existing furniture, if required, to ensure timely delivery and installation.
+ Maintain complete and accurate record of the entire project (project folder) including approved plans, budgets and schedules, correspondences, product orders and acknowledgements, delivery tickets, labor timesheets, and subcontractor invoices. Execute and adhere to project timelines including order entry, production schedules, delivery and installation, and problem resolution. Communicate project status throughout the sales process. Identify project issues and provide cost effective solutions to insure project completion while minimizing gross profit erosion.
+ Conduct project completion walk-thru with installer, customer and/or customer's representative. Document punch-list items, review findings with client, and determine course of action for timely resolution of all open issues. Participate in project planning and design meetings including internal detailed furniture design meetings and provide input as appropriate. Review final furniture plans along with designer for accuracy and completeness as related to request for proposal (RFP) information and/or site conditions. Assist with developing a furniture package in response to RFP. Participate in client presentation meetings and explain the project manager role throughout the projects duration. Develop a relationship with the client through consistent communication throughout the project gaining the client's confidence in the team's ability to fulfill client expectations.
+ Monitor job-site throughout delivery and installation phases. Attend construction meetings and provide information to general contractor to insure site readiness. Receive all products checking for received condition and order completeness. Work with manufacturer's reps, warehouse staff, and internal team to resolve any problems in a timely manner. Schedule use of service elevators, loading docks, and parking facilities, and coordinate building access with appropriate building managers. Maintain a working knowledge of all OM Workspace preferred vendor products with the ability to offer immediate solutions to resolve unexpected site issues. Ensure relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of people and property.
**Education and Experience:**
+ Level of Formal Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
+ Area of Study: This position requires knowledge of construction or project management acquired through formal education, or 3 - 5 years on-the-job application. Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in business administration or interior design.
+ Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in related field

  • Partner Contractor Relationship Development:  Identify industry adjacent contracting companies who may sell our services to their customers (companies that may do basement finishing, waterproofing, foundation work, replacement windows / doors (but not egress), roofing companies, etc are all good candidates who may be interested in partnering with us).
  • Educational Events:  Organize and host lunch-and-learn sessions to showcase our products and services to potential partner companies.
  • Account Management:  Build and nurture long-term relationships with other contracting businesses to ensure ongoing collaboration and repeat sales.
  • Strategic Networking:  Attend industry events and leverage professional networks to identify new B2B opportunities.
  • Customized Proposals:  Create tailored sales proposals for B2B clients, demonstrating a clear understanding of their requirements and goals.
  • Warehouse Market Development:  Identify and target warehouses, property managers, and commercial facilities as a new source of business. Tailor solutions to meet their unique needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable virtually integrating with our existing team via mediums like Zoom or Google Meet. The rest of our team is based in either Columbus or Cleveland for now.
  • Proven track record in sales and account management, preferably within the home improvement or home services industry.
  • Experience in in-home sales is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
  • Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy throughout the sales process.
  • Motivated by a commission-driven role, with the ability to confidently guide customers through the decision-making process and ask for the sale.

What You'll Do:

Building Technology is applying engineering principles, physics, and materials science to the exterior envelope of buildings to make them durable, energy-efficient, and able to resist water infiltration reliably. As an Associate Project Consultant, under the direction of a licensed engineer, you will assist with new design, evaluation, investigation, and design of repairs for existing buildings. Essential duties include climbing ladders and scaffolds, the ability to work at great heights, and the ability to travel by car to multiple job sites. A strong technical education, professional demeanor, and desire to learn are essential to this position.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
  • 2 to 5 years of experience, EIT preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in building construction and solving engineering problems.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and enthusiasm for the work.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: building construction or an allied field, industrial rope access (rock climbing), mechanical repair, AutoCAD, Revit.
  • Enthusiasm and passion - consistently maintain high levels of activity and productivity.
  • Communication - conveys information to internal and external clients clearly with excellent writing and oral skills.
  • Problem-solving - capability to solve minor or complex problems using data, logic, judgment, and problem-solving tools.
