Required Qualifications and Skills:

Work Style, Hours, Compensation and Benefits

·   We are looking for a fulltime employee who is available 40 hours per week.

·   Typical office hours fall between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm

·   Salary range is $65-85k, depending on skills and years of experience.

·   We offer 15 days of personal time off and nine holidays annually.

As a Technology Project Designer, you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. Qualifications:

  • 1-5+ years of experience in site development design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is , or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AutoCAD Civil 3D for site development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • A desire and/or ability to work in teams to accomplish shared goals
  • Self-motivated with the ability and desire to deliver excellent client service

IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Civil Project Designer in our Richmond, VA office. As a Civil Project Designer you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. You will be responsible for working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include engineering analysis, design field inspections, writing reports, preparing permit applications, site drainage & grading designs, and learning the Civil Engineering trade. This position will be expected to work within the project's monetary budget, train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Direct and train Civil Design Technicians to assist them in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the project's contractual scope
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of civil site design projects for commercial, residential, industrial projects etc.; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Complete and oversee permit applications for a variety of municipalities in coordination with the team, Client, and reviewing jurisdiction
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects; Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended
  • Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; Interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
  • Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3D
  • Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors.
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
OR
  • Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
