+ Conduct detailed analysis and due diligence for new opportunities in North America and LatAm in the power, natural resources and infrastructure sectors

+ Oversee and manage internal processes required for compliance and execution, including KYC, profitability analysis, committee approvals, legal due diligence, and closing checklists
**Requirements:**
+ A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or another relevant field
+ A minimum of 3 years of related Accounting or Financial Services work experience; preferably with specific experience in project finance
+ Experience with project finance transactions in the power, natural resources, energy or transportation infrastructure sectors
+ Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, credit risk and experience developing project finance models with Excel
+ Success working collaboratively in a team-based environment, strong communication skills and individual accountability
The typical base pay range for this role is between $110k-190k (analyst & associate range) depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role will be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation. Overview

Duties:

  • Studio focused: Handles SWBR billings and contract management, data entry into billing system, collections, reviewing consultant contracts as well as processing invoices in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the creation and development of project resource plans.
  • Data entry of monthly project expenses including sales tax, print slips, postage, etc.
  • Supports Project Managers and Principals including monthly resource plan update meetings.
  • Performs new consultant set up and maintenance, including W-9 forms and insurance certificates.
  • Coordinates and processes rental car requests
  • Assists Finance Manager with the update and completion of various financial reports.
  • This position works primarily in an office setting with moderate to light noise.

Skills:

  • Possess at minimum an Associates’ degree (or equivalent professional work experience) in accounting or finance.
  • Have 2+ years of job cost accounting experience, preferably in the A/E industry.

  • Manages legal & corporate processes and project-level diligence to support financing efforts.
  • Collaborates cross functionally to present portfolios to potential tax equity investors.
  • Tracks the flow of debt and equity proceeds through various stages of funding.
  • Provide leadership to the project finance closing process, including modeling analysis, preparing RFP packages, managing due diligence questions, reviewing transaction documentation, and supporting negotiation with counterparties.
  • Be able to build, maintain, and improve various project finance and other models including, but not limited to debt modeling, tax equity structures, operating models, and other types. Evaluate current and potential project acquisition and financing opportunities through forecasting cash flows, tax impacts, and investor returns.
  • Coordinate with Novel’s in-house project development, EPC, legal, and accounting to improve project closing processes and communications with external partners.
  • Prepare marketing materials, manage third party consultants, and assist in negotiating transaction documents.
  • Perform preliminary due diligence and coordinate with finance providers on due diligence and documentation.
  • Coordinate the closing process and project communications with respect to construction debt, permanent debt, and tax equity providers.
  • Partner with the business development team to assist in assessing economic viability of acquisition opportunities and facilitating the structuring of acquisition proposals.
  • Lead efforts to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout each stage of financing.

Work Environment

Required Education and Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant FP&A or investment banking experience working within the renewable energy, real estate, or construction industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or relevant degree
  • Project finance modeling experience.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Experience management an FP&A team.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, think critically, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Proficiency with O365.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Solar or renewable energy experience.
  • SQL and/or other data related querying languages.
  • Experience with Procore or other construction management software.

This role involves maintaining project-related financial data in HNTB's project management system, ensuring it aligns with client contracts, including change orders, subconsultant agreements, and authorized work. The Project Finance Associate supports billing compliance, codes project costs accurately, and ensures proper data entry to support project financial health.

What Youll Do:
  1. Update the project management system with accurate client and project data based on contract reviews.
  2. Manage access and charges to project tasks and phases within the system.
  3. Ensure proper coding and allocation of project costs, monitoring project status and updating financial data proactively.
  4. Handle cost transfers between projects and tasks.
  5. Assist in reviewing and approving project invoices, verifying costs, and ensuring contractual compliance, including insurance and DBE requirements.
  6. Generate financial reports for project and office teams.
  7. Review vendor/subconsultant invoices for accuracy and compliance, obtaining necessary approvals.
  8. Track workflow statuses to ensure timely processing.
  9. Collaborate with project teams to maintain client and subconsultant relationships and address billing questions.
  10. Support or lead subcontracting processes during the project lifecycle.
  11. Assist in proposal development, including gross margin analysis and cost proposals.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.


What Youll Need:
  • Associate degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or
  • 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of education.

What You'll Bring:
  • Intermediate knowledge of HNTB processes and GAAP accounting rules, with the ability to advise project teams accordingly.

What We Prefer:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
