Project Manager

The Project Manager will direct and manage the execution of assigned utility-scale conventional, energy storage, or renewable construction power projects, or demolition projects of retired facilities.

This position is responsible for daily project coordination of internal and external resources to support Safety, Environmental, Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Scheduling, Construction and Commissioning activities on-site, while delivering the project safely, on time, and within budget.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of assigned projects in accordance with any applicable construction and financing agreements.
  • Provide oversight, monitoring, and approvals for engineering design, procurement, construction, inspection, commissioning, and testing of the Project including any value enhancements.
  • Ensure all required licenses and permits are obtained to support the Project.
  • Administer and enforce the obligations of each service provider under the construction and financing agreements.
  • Report to senior management on progress of projects and modifications that are required to be executed, and include key performance indicator metrics associated with safety, environmental, quality, schedule, and budget in accordance with department reporting standards.
  • Review progress reports, check on reported difficulties, and correct any safety violations or other deficiencies with the onsite EPC team.
  • Ensure delivery, installation and commissioning of equipment and material under the construction agreements.
  • Administer the project, project budget, and project schedule in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor construction and commissioning activities are in compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Implement safety, environmental, budget, or schedule, corrective actions necessary throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Interface with federal, state, and local officials as well as neighbors of the project site as needed throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Prepare and distribute required monthly construction reports for internal management and any external financing entities.
  • Coordinate with energy management group for fuel supply and offtake during commissioning.
  • Coordinate training and commissioning support of the Operations' team based upon the project schedule.
  • Create construction and commissioning project records and turnover such documentation to Operations.
  • Manage proper construction team oversight.
  • Complete project closeout and document any lessons learned.
Requirements
  • Ability to inspect in-progress construction work, and to ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, permits, and drawings
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface and coordinate work on a daily basis with other NRG divisions and external organizations
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with clients, contractors, and vendors
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of construction means & methods
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal daily supervision
  • A practical, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and solution-focused approach to issues
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering, construction or building science or relevant field of study.
    • Directly relevant experience over a sustained period of time may be considered a suitable replacement for the Bachelor's Degree
    • Professional Engineer (PE), preferred but not required
  • Nine (9) to twelve (12) years' experience and five (5) years' experience in engineering or construction management
  • Experience/exposure in the power generation field preferred
  • Field experience related to the hazards associated with the work
  • Training in occupational health & safety and environmental regulation
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to read Primavera schedules and critical path analysis
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in office, plant and field environments.
  • Ability to use keyboard and computer at long intervals.
  • Ability to walk around construction and plant sites and spend time outdoors standing, bending, climbing and walking.
Working Conditions:
  • Will work primarily in the field or at existing generating plants and at time in open office environment; ability to work remotely as required
  • Time worked outside of normal hours may be required as business needs dictate.
  • Travel time up to 100% may be required.

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the support of development, receive and sign off the assumption book of the project, and construction of solar energy projects, including our upcoming revamping and repowering plan and new greenfield projects. This may include maximizing efficiency in the implementation of detailed project plans, keeping track of goals, tasks, resources, schedules, costs, and contingencies. He/She must be able to effectively manage multiple competing demands on their time and attention while also working with external stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
Management of the construction site, Cost Management, Time Management, Quality Management, Contract Administration, Safety Management, defining the responsibilities and management structure of the project site team, organizing and leading by implementing project controls, defining roles and responsibilities and developing communication protocols, and identifying elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims.

Where necessary support the transition from Development to execution of the project, this may include permitting, detailed design or contract negotiations.
Ensure the implementation and compliance of highest standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality on-site.
Coordinate with the PMO, Contract Managers and other relevant support functions all projects activities, reporting.
Monitor General Contractors and sub-contractors adherence to its Health and Safety policy including site safe working procedures and local regulations.
Monitor the on-site construction teams performance, including holding meetings on a regular basis.
The Construction Manager will be ContourGlobals on-site representative managing the General Contractor relationship, including monitoring, measuring, evaluating and reporting the scheduled progress of the General Contractor to ContourGlobal Project Manager.
Avoidance of delays, changes and disputes.
Monitoring the compliance of the agreed General Constractors standards for design and work of on-site technical, commercial and quality; this will include the adherence to ContourGlobal corporate standards. Enhancing project design and construction quality;
Optimum use of design and construction firms' skills and talents;
Coordinating with the General Contractor and ContourGlobals subcontractors as required contract compliance, technical compliance, scope changes, change orders, ContourGlobal directed changes and extensions of time.
Prepare and submit periodic reports (e.g. weekly, monthly and completion) in the standard format that demonstrate and provide information to Senior Management that the projects currently in execution are being managed for a successful outcome (including monthly cash flows and accounting as required).
Ensure all project information is properly understood by site staff including costs, design, schedules, procurement, construction issues, contractor invoices and payments, funding requirements, change order notifications and any issues that would impact the construction progress of the CHP facility.
Assist in developing and implementing contingency plans to recover project costs or schedule slippage together with the Senior Project Manager when necessary.
Control of the scope of the work;
Project scheduling;
Optimum flexibility in contracting and procurement.
Ensure owner furnished equipment is properly procured and delivered to the respective sites to avoid delays by the contractor and that the equipment is properly received by the contractor.
Ensure timely resolution of issues and deficiencies and develop and implement contingency plans to recover project costs or schedule slippage when necessary.

Job Description:

Manage the day-to-day operations of reconstruction projects. Deliver a high quality of service in all dealings with customers, clients, subcontractors, resource providers, and company employees involved in performing reconstruction services

.Responsibilities:

  • Perform final walk-through with customer and secure a signed Completion of Completion and Certificate of Satisfaction from customer
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings with customers
  • Set expectations and provide project updates to customers and subcontractor
  • Schedule all subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Ensure all work performed complies with the plans, specifications, local codes, and requirements of the scope of work
  • Document all project activities in the job book
  • Maintain quality standards through site inspections
  • Provide evaluation and rating of all vendors and subcontractors
  • Coordinate inspections with local jurisdiction
  • Identify areas outside of the contracted scope of work
  • All jobs must be ran w/ a project schedule, based on the approved scope
  • Daily progress photos and weekly updates to customers are required on every job
  • Based on the schedule, required to stay on top of customer payments on your assigned jobs

sQualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction project management
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to examine and understand contract documents
  • Proven experience in providing accurate project estimates
  • Experience in preparing data for invoice
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with a proven track record of maintaining strong relationships with subcontractor
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards in the construction industry

A well-established Commercial General Contractor in Houston is seeking a skilled and driven Project Manager to join their team. The company specializes in ground-up construction projects across K-12, Municipal, Religious, and Office sectors, with project values ranging from $5M to $5M .

Residential or multi-family only experience is not applicable for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire life cycle of ground-up commercial construction projects , from preconstruction through to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and work plans in collaboration with field and office teams.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and city officials to ensure all project milestones and requirements are met.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, scope definition, contract negotiations, and change order management.
  • Ensure all work is performed to company and industry standards with respect to quality, safety, and compliance .
  • Lead weekly project meetings, maintain thorough documentation, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Superintendents to ensure field execution aligns with project goals.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks or delays throughout the construction process.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams to support a collaborative and solutions-focused environment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a Commercial General Contractor , delivering ground-up projects in the K-12, Office, Religious, or Municipal sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from preconstruction through final delivery in the Houston area .
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, contracts, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, or similar ).
  • A track record of strong job tenures candidates with frequent job changes will not be considered.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and lead diverse project teams effectively.
