Job Summary: Trane Technologies is hiring an Applications Engineer/Project Manager in Grand Rapids, MI. In this role, you will be part of a team that provides engineering services for late-stage customization of Trane commercial air conditioning units and chillers.

Where is the work: Onsite. This position has been designated as On-Site. The company has designated this role as safety sensitive.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for achieving project scope and intent of design
  • Responsible for submittal generation, scope, and accuracy
  • Responsible for managing scope changes and their impact on cost and schedule
  • Performs complex design and analysis activities involving refrigerant, controls, airside, and waterside systems
  • Uses a variety of computer programs including Trane selection/simulation programs and component manufacturers programs to select fans, coils, compressors, and other system components to create submittals, construction drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and IOM manuals.
  • Controls project expense by monitoring material and labor expenses versus assigned project budget
  • Supports the sales function by assisting with cost estimates
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable safety and listing agency requirements
  • Participates in design reviews (DMFEA) and audits
  • Maintains job file records and correspondence

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree required in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, computer, or related engineering discipline
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience in HVAC system design preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work cross functionally with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Compensation: Base Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
