Job Description
The Prosthetics Technician will focus their time fabricating in-house and central fabrication upper limb externally powered prostheses. This role will require good attention to detail as well as excellent communication skills. It is also important for the technician to have strong time management skills to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricates prosthetic devices following established work instructions and quality standards
- Responsible to perform tasks such as pour negatives, plaster modifications, pull plastic, roll silicone and trimline finishing.
- The technician must be good at operating machinery such as power tools and need a high level of hand-eye coordination.
- Education of customers attending onsite clinical academy trainings.
- Troubleshoot of i-limb devices when necessary.
- Tests prostheses for freedom of movement, sealed valves, alignment of parts, and biomechanical stability, using plumb line and alignment fixtures.
- Maintains and requests adequate supplies of fabrication materials and components.
- Maintains and cleans the production area
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of high school or GED
- 1 3 years as an Orthotics and/or Prosthetics Technician, or equivalent experience.
- Self-motivated and dependable with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Overview
The O&P Technician II independently fabricates orthotic and prosthetic devices, including highly technical devices, with direction and guidance from other technicians and practitioners. The Technician II does so quickly and efficiently with limited supervision. He or she also repairs prostheses as required. Other responsibilities are to maintain inventories and fabricating devices with enough lead time to meet the set delivery date for each device. Also, to assist practitioners with casting and fitting as requested by the practitioner. Up-to-date fab tracking in OPIE is required.
Responsibilities
- Independently demonstrates the knowledge and technical skills to correctly fabricate orthotic/prosthetic devices.
- Independently fabricates and accurately repairs neat appearing and structurally sound standard and highly technical prosthetic or orthotic devices utilizing optimum time management and cost savings techniques in fabrication.
- Ensures devices are fabricated within deadlines.
- Ensures cosmetics of orthosis/prosthesis alignment of joints and appropriateness trim lines are satisfactory to practitioner and patient.
- Makes certain final product is smooth, uniform in thickness when indicated, and conforms to model. Uses componentry and materials selected appropriately for patient height, weight and activity level.
- Follows product manufacturer's guidelines.
- Follows specifications on work orders.
- Communicates effectively with practitioner regarding devices.
- Provides guidance to technicians in all areas of fabrication as needed.
- Serves as a resource for the development or creation of innovation design and fabrication of devices.
- Maintains accurate documentation in Fab Tracker.

The O&P Technician I duties include but are not limited to perform orthotic and / or prosthetic technical duties under the supervision of the Lab Supervisors. Detailed in the performance standards. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Member of the rehabilitation team to assess and evaluate patient needs and design and modify prosthetic and orthotic devices.
The Prosthetics Orthotics Practitioner is responsible for providing direct patient care at multiple UW Medicine facilities including the off-site HMC Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinic in South Lake Union, inpatient and outpatient locations at Harborview Medical Center, and inpatient locations at UWMC-Montlake. The duties and responsibilities are divided into three main areas of focus:

Assesses patient needs applying knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology synthesizes and reports assessment verbally and in writing
Designs and modifies prosthetic and orthotic devices to meet patient requirements
Performs fitting and fabrication techniques of prosthetic and orthotic devices
Provides patient and family education in the use and maintenance of prosthetic and orthotic devices
Directs the work of Orthotics/Prosthetics Technicians, students and volunteers
Assists in supervision of Orthotic and Prosthetic Resident
Participates in continuing education activities as required

Licensed by the state of Washington.

Responsibilities:
- Lead surface coil failure investigation and root cause analysis
- Collaborating with the service team to gather failure data from customer sites
- Working with MRI systems for data collection and coil performance evaluation
- Demonstrating strong analytical and communication skills throughout the process
- Applying electrical circuit board design and simulation expertise using tools such as Cadence, Altium, and ADS
Education and Experience:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standard drafting practices, product structuring, electronics modeling and drawing practices, and engineering analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of Analog and RF circuit design
- Understanding of engineering product development processes
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
- Medical device experience
- Demonstrated experience in the following: Electromagnetics, Transmission Line design, Antenna Theory & Design, Mixers, Oscillators, Amplifiers, Analog Design, RF Printed Circuit Board Layout experience
- Experience with Weibull Analysis and DFR (Design for Reliability) tools
- Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task

This role will sit 5x onsite in Cincinnati/Dayton, OH. The Senior Engineering Project Manager will work as a member of the Research and Development team and will be responsible to plan and execute development activities in accordance with corporate procedures, to assure the project deliverables are completed accurately, on time and within budget. Initiate, plan, schedule, direct and execute one or multiple projects at a time, including highly complex cross-functional projects.
This role is an individual contributor role working within a cross-functional team toward a common goal. This role will also be responsible for communicating project status and updates to management levels.
