Summary:
Performs patrolling, surveillance, escorting, investigation and intervention services in an effort to protect the safety and security of all patients, visitors, employees and physicians on hospital premises and police hospital buildings and grounds to
reduce the probability of fire, theft and vandalism.
Responsibilities:
Monitor the Metal Detector and take action if something is detected by the Metal Detector, following all protocols set in place for Metal Detector assignment. Will assist Armed Officers with the day-to-day operations of the hospital Metal Detector. Responds to unusual or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force level up the use of an appropriate weapon by following established protocol. Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices, Metal Detector, and Weapons.
May act as a liaison with Law Enforcement and Fire Departments. Collaborates with Emergency Department Director or Designee to ensure appropriate communication with EMS. Patrols buildings and grounds of hospital, and observes for unsafe or illegal activity, and for doors/areas which are not secured.
Ensures that only authorized persons are permitted on hospital grounds. Provides escort and assistance for visitors, patients and employees to and from all areas within the hospital property.
Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients, and participates in de-escalation of situation, including physical restraint if necessary. Appropriately and effectively intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening or armed persons are encountered, ensuring that the safety of victims and bystanders. Serves as a member of the Fire Team and responds to various alarms. Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances of a civil and criminal nature reported by hospital staff, visitors, physicians or patients.
Provides assistance to patients, visitors and employees when vehicles won't start, with flat tires or persons are locked out of their cars. Writes incident reports and documents investigation steps and results. Inspects outgoing parcels as necessary to reduce theft of hospital property. Reports and/or removes all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections.
Transports cash, checks, other documents, equipment, supplies, and runs errands when requested. Participates in, and responds to, all disaster alerts including Active Shooter, Bomb threats, external emergency, severe weather plans, and internal disaster plans. Assist with traffic control by keeping fire lanes, fire hydrants, and ambulance entrances free of vehicles.

This job is responsible for the implementation of the bank's physical security programs, policies, and procedures throughout a market or region. About the Military Police Role

The U.S. Army's Military Police are responsible for safeguarding lives and property on military installations by enforcing laws and regulations, controlling traffic, preventing crime, and responding to emergencies.

These professionals conduct force protection, anti-terrorism, area security, and police intelligence operations, while also training in corrections and detention, investigations, and mobility. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct law enforcement patrols
  • Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects in investigations
  • Secure and process crime scenes

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Complete 10 weeks of Basic Training
  • Participate in 20 weeks of One Station Unit Training and on-the-job instruction in police methods
