JOB SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Director of Community Services, you will provide vital outpatient psychiatric nursing care within your professional scope. Engage in face-to-face assessments under the oversight of an assigned Psychiatrist or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, and case managers both within and outside the organization.
2. Work alongside clients, caregivers, and significant others to enhance their support systems.
3. Offer behavioral health education and management strategies while holding clients accountable for their progress.
4. Assess clients for additional treatment needs and connect them with relevant services.
5. Utilize your knowledge of physical health as it pertains to client care, including weight, nutrition, and medication education, while addressing side effects and medication management.
6. Provide clients with essential community resources to support their health journey.
7. Exhibit leadership in daily departmental activities.
8. Meet with clients independently, as referred by Psychiatrists and psychiatric APRNs, including for triage purposes.
9. Document observations and interventions with clarity while actively seeking guidance as needed from team members.
10. Achieve the Agency's productivity requirements.
11. Maintain professional boundaries with clients and their families, showing respect at all times.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Participate in scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training opportunities.
2. Ensure all required training, certifications, and licensures remain current as per applicable licensing and accreditation regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required, with specialized training or certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing preferred.
2. Licensure/Certification: An active Ohio Nursing license is essential (LPN acceptable, RN preferred). BLS certification is a plus.

Specialty unit. 34 beds staffed/capped at 21 currently (to grow with census). Typically staffed 3 RNs days, 3 RNs afternoon/evenings, 2 RNs nights. Nurse can gain valuable experience and clinical skills in a specialty unit. It's very gratifying to see progress and stabilization of the patient you don't always see with inpatient care. Good sense of team in the unit to keep everyone safe.

How you will contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
