Job Summary : Provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician including conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychiatric treatment.
Essential Functions : Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Interviews patients and completes psychiatric assessments including diagnosing and treatment planning
- Obtains medical history from patients, manages stable medical conditions and determines if medical consultation is needed
- Instructs and counsels patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens including psychopharmacologic recommendations
- In concert with the multidisciplinary team develops comprehensive plans of care including aftercare planning
- Assesses patients daily during Behavioral Health Crisis Center rounds, updating charts, ordering treatment and reporting back to physician as needed
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records following professional and organizational practice guidelines
- Orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
- Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal
- Completes all documentation within 24 hours of service
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of assessment tools, interviewing, and mental status examinations.
- Ability to formulate diagnosis based on examination and test results
- Ability to interpret test results, identify deviations from norms, and intervene or make appropriate referrals
- Ability to assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; knows procedures including developing, implementing and revising plan of care
- Ability to prescribe certain medications as part of a treatment plan gaining physician approval when needed
- Ability to document problems and/or needs identified from the treatment plan; competent in completing treatment plans

Work Environment : This job operates in a behavioral health crisis environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some minor travel between Gateway sites may be required at times.
Physical Demands : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
