**How you make a difference**
The Mental Health Professionalprovidesclinical services to individuals under the supervision of the Mental Health Coordinator, Clinical Supervisor or MentalHealthDirector. **Key Responsibilities**

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated LCSW/LSW/LPC/LAC Mental Health Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with patients to provide support and assistance in their mental health journey. This role involves implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient behavior, and facilitating therapeutic activities. The Mental Health Counselor will play a crucial role in promoting a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Duties

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Responsible for service coordination which establishes a framework of action to enable the client to achieve specified goals.
  • Complete necessary administrative procedures at admission to caseload.
  • Establish accurate treatment and recovery expectations with the client.
  • Reassess client's needs monthly, or more frequently when significant changes have occurred.
  • Successful collaboration with clients and significant others.
  • Responsible for the collaborative process in which the counselor and the client develop a written document that identifies important treatment goals, describes measurable, time sensitive action steps toward achieving those goals with expected outcomes and reflects an agreement between counselor and client.
  • Use of relevant assessment information to guide the treatment planning process.
  • Formulate mutually agreed upon and measurable treatment goals and objectives.
  • Identify appropriate strategies for each treatment goal.
  • Develop with the client a mutually acceptable treatment plan and method for monitoring and evaluating progress.
  • Coordinate treatment activities and community resources in a manner consistent with the client's diagnosis and existing placement criteria.
  • Establish a helping relationship with the client characterized by warmth, respect, genuineness, concreteness, and empathy.
  • Facilitate the client's engagement in the treatment and recovery process.
  • Promote client's knowledge, skills, and attitudes that contribute to a positive change in behaviors.
  • Encourage and reinforce client actions determined to be beneficial in progressing toward treatment goals.
  • Work appropriately with client to recognize and discourage all behaviors inconsistent with progress toward treatment goals.
  • All treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, and any other documentation is completed according to policy, is legible, and reflects client participation in treatment.
  • All reports and/or documents requested by management are accurate and timely.
  • Ensures efficient programming occurs through volunteering coverage as needed.
  • Anticipates the needs of the clients and the program in order to ensure effective programming.
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable Federal and State laws, the professional code of ethics prescribed by the Division of Consumer Affairs Licensure Board of New Jersey; the policies and procedures detailed in the Real House Behavioral Health Services Policy and Procedure Manual, Code of Ethics statement and the instruction provided by supervision to include alternative duties. This includes the responsibility to make no statement or take any action that would knowingly threaten the best interests of the agency, other staff members, and/or of clients in our care. The holder of this position is also responsible for undertaking and sustaining a commitment to job related professional growth.

Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to work independently
  • A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their mental health.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.

About the role:

Our mental health coaches are responsible for helping families work through a large spectrum of behavioral and emotional challenges. As a mental health coach, you would meet with your clients weekly. You would also collaborate with your care team, which includes an individual coach, parent coach and a clinical team leader to support the family as a whole. Our work with our clients focuses on relationship-based support combined with an understanding of systemic needs including clinical, school, work and social skills. 

You’ll be a good fit if you possess the following: 

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Counseling (required)
  • Licensure is not required, but it is preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families providing individual and family therapy
  • Strong ability to personally relate one-on-one with each client and build solid relationships
  • Strong ability to collaborate with team members
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-business hours, such as after school, evening, and/or on weekends
  • Ability to travel to meet clients

The Mental Health Worker performs duties under the direction of the Unit Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, or Team Leader. This position is responsible for gathering and reporting observational data, providing direct patient care to assigned patients, implementing therapeutic interventions and emotional support for patient during hospitalization on the acute care inpatient services at Alta Bates/Summit Medical Center. The position requires proficiency in verbal de-escalation of anxious and agitated patients. Mental Health Workers assist the R.N. in assuring the maintenance of a safe therapeutic environment, in the implementation of the program, in processing admissions and discharges, and in assisting patients in activities of daily living.
