Departmental Overview
UC Berkeley's University Health Services (UHS) is a comprehensive campus-based health center that provides on-campus medical and mental health care and coordinates supplemental needs for off-campus care through a network of community specialists and hospitals. Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is a unit of the University Health Services (UHS). The purpose of CAPS is to support the academic mission of the University by providing comprehensive counseling that will assist and advise students on a wide range of concerns including academic success, life management, career and life planning, and personal growth and development. CAPS is also involved in the coordination of treatment with both University and non-university agencies, provides evaluation and treatment of psychiatric illness, as well as assists students, faculty and staff in dealing with immediate crises.
This position reports to the unit Business and Operations Manager. This position requires a high level of diplomacy and interaction with staff at all levels. The incumbent must communicate effectively with managerial, professional, and clerical staff and must be able to work collaboratively with staff members at all levels. Responsibilities
TRIAGE AND SCHEDULING
- Triage clients to determine services needed and identify if emergency services are required. Respond quickly and efficiently to clients in crisis.
- Using an electronic appointment system, determine client's eligibility for services, input and revise client statistical data, check in clients, and schedule appointments. Inform clients in person and on the phone about CAPS services, the appointment system, and client rights and responsibilities.
- Call/Secure message clients to schedule or reschedule appointments as needed
- Handles a variety of sensitive situations with high risk students, involving other staff as needed; answers a wide range of questions from clients, campus partners, parents, police and local hospitals.
- Interpret and process clinical documentation to determine next steps (Verification of Illness, study abroad forms and other supporting documents)
- Triage department message box in electronic scheduling system ensuring that all requests for medication refills, clinical services and referrals are processed in a timely manner.
- Adjust clinical templates as directed to ensure adequate clinical coverage including new hire templates and a variety of schedule adjustments in the electronic scheduling system.
- Word processing for the unit including edits to manual using PowerDMS, updating org charts, phone rosters, conference room seating charts, etc.
- Scan clinical documentation- Review and scan into student's electronic health record all incoming clinical documentation with attention to detail. Categorize each entry and complete tracking log in electronic health record for each document entered.
- Facilities - Evaluate environmental concerns brought to the front desk by clinicians and resolve or enter help desk tickets as necessary.
- IT Support - Input requests through a ticket system for onboarding, offboarding and troubleshooting requests for the unit.
- Ergonomic evaluations for all CAPS staff at Tang and all satellite locations, as needed. This includes all new hires and up to 15 new clinical interns and fellows annually. Make recommendations and alterations to workstations in timely and economical manner. Complete all paperwork associated with Ergonomic Evaluation and Matching Funds program for partial reimbursement of ergonomic items purchased for employees. Coordinate arrival of furniture, removal of old furniture, computer retrieval and delivery during furniture moves, ensure that security call buttons are removed from old furniture and reinstalled on new furniture
- General Support - assist with ordering business cards, prescription pads, and other general office supplies. Provide event support for conferences, workshops and department wide staff meetings and retreats. Monitor front office and client areas to ensure they are neat, clean, safe and well stocked with supplies
- Calendaring - provide scheduling support for Directors and Managers using various electronic calendaring systems
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Participate in UHS and CAPS committees as needed

JOB SUMMARY
This senior level position assists the Director with and is primarily responsible for the development, recruitment, management, and oversight of the CAPS practicum training program and ensures smooth operation of all training program functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:
- Serves as a member of the CAPS leadership team. In the absence of the Director, the Associate Directors supervise all CAPS operations.
- Assumes primary leadership for developing, coordinating, and maintaining all aspects of the training of graduate level practicum students including but not limited to:
- Communicating with respective academic departments and practicum coordinators.
- Collecting, organizing, and maintaining all practicum agreements, evaluations, documentation of hours, and other relevant paperwork.
- Overseeing clinical supervision processes including providing direct supervision to trainees and making supervision assignments.
- Developing and managing training schedules for trainees.
- Developing and implementing training curriculum.

- Leading weekly Training Committee meetings with supervisors on staff and serves as consultant to other staff on trainee related issues.

EDUCATION
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. Pre-doctoral internship at an APAaccredited university counseling center site is preferred. Licensure as a Psychologist is required. Licensure in the state of Texas is preferred. If licensed in a state other than Texas, the individual will be required to obtain licensure in Texas within 12 months of employment.
EXPERIENCE
At least 3-5 years of post-doctoral work experience in a clinical setting, preferably in a university counseling center. Experience providing clinical supervision is required. Proven ability to coordinate a training program and/or clinical service is preferred.
REQUIREMENT

Reporting to the Director of the Dean Hope Center, the Associate Director plays a key role in ensuring the Center's efficient operation and fostering strong relationships among stakeholders. Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a full-time, 11-month, recurring Staff Therapist position with Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS). We are seeking individuals who are passionate about providing psychotherapy and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of mental health counselors, licensed social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, trainees, and administrative professionals to provide high-quality mental health care to the university community.
**_Core responsibilities include:_**
+ Provide clinical services (e.g., individual and group psychotherapy) for graduate and undergraduate students.
+ Provide additional clinical services, including: initial consultations, crisis intervention, triage coverage, and on-call after hours rotation coverage.
+ Consult with students, faculty and staff, families and parents, and other providers regarding student mental health issues or concerns.
+ Provide clinical supervision to doctoral level psychology staff, interns, and/or other trainees.
+ Assist in educational programming for trainees (e.g., practicum trainees, doctoral and master's level interns, psychiatric residents).
+ Offer outreach programming to the campus community.
+ Maintain clinical records and necessary statistics of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts, in compliance with ethics, law, and best practices.
+ Participate in department, divisional, and other University committees as assigned.
+ Attend and participate in regular CAPS staff meetings, divisional meetings, case conferences, and in-service/professional development training.
+ Other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related mental health field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
+ Minimum three years of experience working as a provider in a mental health care environment (practica, internship, and postdoctoral experience may be used to meet this requirement).
+ License-eligible as a psychologist in the State of Pennsylvania. If not currently licensed, must be independently licensed as a psychologist in the State of Pennsylvania within 2 years of start date.
+ Demonstrated experience providing culturally sensitive diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention and risk assessment, and brief psychotherapy.
+ Experience designing and facilitating culturally sensitive presentations for educational or outreach events.
+ Seasoned communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage conflict with cultural humility, clear professional boundaries, and ability to work collegially and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team process.
+ A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Currently hold an active, unrestricted license as a doctoral-level psychologist in the State of Pennsylvania or hold such a license from another state and can obtain a Pennsylvania license within 1-year of hire.
+ Experience working as a clinician in a college/university counseling center.
+ Successful completion of a supervised doctoral internship accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) with a minimum of 2000 hours.
+ Experience providing clinical supervision.
+ Experience in the treatment of eating disorders, Men's Issues, ASD, ADHD, or substance use disorders.
+ Expertise and experience promoting mental health awareness and well-being initiatives, and engaging in advocacy for students.
