Essential Duties:
The ED/PHA ensures the successful accomplishment of the agency's mission including fiscal, personnel, Public Health and Head Start programming, grants management, and the development of the agency's strategic plan. The ED/PHA, in conjunction with the Administrators, plans, implements, directs, and evaluates all aspects of operation in accordance with the policies of the Board of Health and funding agencies. The ED/PHA is responsible for administering, implementing, and directing all nursing services, administrative and operational programs within the Public Health Division, including environmental health and emergency preparedness services. Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Academic Program Director for the department of Population & Public Health Sciences (PPHS) at Wright State University plays a vital role in the administration and growth of the department's undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs. This position serves as the primary liaison for students across all academic levels, ensuring coordinated academic advising, experiential learning, and student support services. The coordinator collaborates with faculty and staff on curricular development, recruitment initiatives, and academic operations that enhance student success and program visibility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience should be in student or academic function, program coordination, or a comparable field.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and synthesize complex information in environments with multiple stakeholders, variables, and outcomes.
- Proven problem-solving skills, particularly under time constraints or competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advise, coach, and support students as well as collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Proficiency with student information systems (e.g., Banner, Curriculog), Microsoft Office, and/or data tracking tools.

Student Advising & Recruiting (40%)
- Serve as the first point of contact for prospective and current students in undergraduate, Master of Public Health (MPH), and certificate programs.
- Provide individualized advising on course registration, degree planning, and program requirements.
- Monitor academic progress and coordinate graduation planning and tracking.
- Support students in navigating elective, transfer, prior learning assessment (PLA), and certificate credit approvals.
- Proactively engage in recruitment activities by conducting outreach, following up with inquiries, participating in university-wide recruitment events, and building relationships with prospective students.
- Collaborate with the relevant stakeholders to implement effective recruitment strategies tailored to each program.
- Develop, manage, and expand relationships with community and organizational partners to ensure a diverse range of high-quality field placement opportunities.
- Advise students in identifying placements aligned with career interests and learning goals.
- Track placement activities, evaluate student and site satisfaction, and resolve conflicts.
- Maintain and track practice placement data, site agreements, and student products to meet accreditation and programmatic requirements.
Student Events & Marketing (20%)
- Plan, coordinate, and execute student-focused events such as orientation sessions, information nights, networking events, and career panels.
- Represent the department at university recruitment, retention, and advising events to promote public health programs.
